Miley & Liam Singlehandedly Prove Love Is Real

by Nicole Pomarico

Never, in a million, trillion, billion years did I imagine we'd see the day that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth would get back together, but it seems to be happening, which proves 2016 is going to be the best year in the history of ever. According to what sources close to the couple tell Us Weekly, not only are Cyrus and Hemsworth engaged again, but they're also living together, pets and all. Bustle has reached out to Cyrus and Hemsworth's reps for comment on the engagement and living together reports, but has not yet heard back. Apparently, the couple is even "picking up right where they left off." And since I've always loved them together, I'm pretty psyched that this is (reportedly) happening, but even I can admit that the two of them back together again totally comes out of left field.

Let's put it all out there. First of all, their split was almost four years ago, and they obviously broke up for a reason. People don't just end an engagement if their relationship is working, so there must be a reason why they aren't compatible — or, at least, weren't compatible. Add that to the fact that Cyrus is a total free spirit who seems to have nothing in common with the Australian Hunger Games star, and things get confusing. I don't know Hemsworth personally, but he doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would get much joy out of wearing scandalous performance costumes and Instagramming photos of butts with faces on them, both of which are things Cyrus has done.

In fact, if Hemsworth was in a buddy comedy, he would be the straitlaced businessman who always rolls his eyes at his college roommate's pot jokes and inability to keep a job well into his forties. Basically, he and Cyrus seem like total opposites. And after so many years apart, people don't typically grow back together — just farther apart. They meet new people, they get new hobbies, they star in blockbuster movie franchises alongside Jennifer Lawrence and their priorities change. So if you're questioning this, I completely understand.

This brings me to a very important conclusion. There can only be one possible reason they're reportedly back together, and it's because it's true love between Cyrus and Hemsworth. And as anyone who has ever watched a romantic comedy starring Julia Roberts or Meg Ryan already knows, you just can't stop true love. The gravitational pull between them had to be so strong that it brought them together again from two separate continents across the world from each other, their love is that real. If you saw The Last Song, you know that word Hemsworth wrote on Cyrus's shoe? "Forever." He meant it, everyone. He meant it.

But on a more serious note, sometimes time apart in a relationship is exactly what is needed to make it functional again. In the past three and a half years, Cyrus and Hemsworth have had time to grow independently of each other, see what else is out there, and probably work on the things that made their engagement fail in the first place. But that's a boring explanation, even if it's probably the right one, and the fact that their destiny to be together forever and create the world's most magical, gorgeous babies is a far more exciting one anyway.

And if Taylor Swift was here, she'd probably say that the reason is simple: Cyrus and Hemsworth never go out of style. And it is so true.

Next stop: The actual wedding. I'll be waiting for my invite, guys!
