Leslie Mann Nailed The Chic Ballerina Look

by Maxine Builder

Appearing on the blue carpet with her husband Judd Apatow, Leslie Mann at the 2016 Critics Choice Awards was totally channeling ballerina vibes. Mann wore a stunningly simple dress that paired a tight black bodice with a delicate ombré tulle skirt. Add the chic bun and satin T-strap pumps, which looked like edgy pointe shoes, and Mann was rocking an outfit that would definitely make any ballerina proud.

Mann is no stranger to strapless dresses, wearing wearing one to the premiere of The Other Woman back in 2014; and she actually wore a fairly similar, strapless and cupcake-like dress before, at last year's Critics Choice Awards. But why mess with a look that works? Besides, the simple colors in this dress keep the look from becoming too sweet, even as she looks like she might look right at home at the ballet. Mann decided to forgo any jewelry with this look, except for some simple, black studded earrings, but the silver threads that run through the tulle add some delightful, and much needed, sparkle. There's also some glitter in her pumps, which are a nice detail. The makeup was equally simple, with a fresh face and bold red lip, but it still made an impact and allowed the dress to truly shine.

Though she wasn't nominated for a Critics Choice Award herself this year, Mann still had an exciting 2015. She was named Jergens' latest spokesperson and appeared in the movie Vacation. Her husband Judd Apatow didn't have a bad year either, producing Amy Schumer's successful movie Trainwreck and a new Netflix series Love , which will star Gillian Jacobs. Apatow himself didn't look too shabby at this year's Critics Choice Awards either, wearing a dark grey suit and speckled grey tie.

Even without a nomination herself, Mann definitely proved that she's an exciting one to watch on the blue carpet.
