by Amy Mackelden

The tributes to Alan Rickman continue to pour in on Thursday, following the news that he died of cancer at the age of 69. Rickman was a much-loved actor, particularly for his role in the Harry Potter series, playing loveable or love-to-hate villain Severus Snape. It's clear that Rickman will be sorely missed, and some of the most heartfelt tributes have come from his Harry Potter co-stars. Daniel Radcliffe shared a fitting open letter to Alan Rickman on GooglePlus on Thursday, and this is followed up with a statement from Rupert Grint about Rickman, who shared how he felt on hearing that the Love Actually actor had passed away.

In a statement, Grint said, "I am devastated to hear about the passing of Alan Rickman, I feel so privileged to have had the opportunity to work with him on numerous occasions. Even though he has gone — I will always hear his voice. My thoughts are with his friends and family at this time." Grint's statement echoes thoughts shared by so many other people who knew Rickman well, who all feel privileged to have known him, and had the opportunity to work with him.

When the first Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone, began filming in 2000, Rupert Grint was only 11 years old. In that time, Grint has grown as an actor, appearing in all seven Potter sequels as Harry Potter's best friend Ron Weasley. It's heartbreaking to hear from actors who worked with Rickman, especially people like Radcliffe and Grint, who were child actors when they started on the Potter films and got to know the legendary film star over the course of eight movies. Rupert Grint's statement is every bit as beautiful as Daniel Radcliffe's.

It's clear that Alan Rickman had a huge impact on all that knew him, especially fellow actors that he helped, and the audiences he was so generous with. In his tribute to the actor, Daniel Radcliffe said, "As an actor he was one of the first of the adults on Potter to treat me like a peer rather than a child. Working with him at such a formative age was incredibly important and I will carry the lessons he taught me for the rest of my life and career." It's clear that Rickman made an important impression on the the stars of Harry Potter , especially as they were so young when they were thrust into the spotlight. Rickman was supportive, and a great person to work with, which is clear from the multiple testimonies of individuals who worked with him.

Rupert Grint's simple tribute to Alan Rickman is poignant and beautiful, proving that Rickman deserves to be the Hollywood legend he has become.
