An 'AHS' Favorite Dropped By The Cortez Hotel

by Kelly Schremph

I think we can all agree that as far as endings go, the American Horror Story: Hotel finale was oddly sentimental in a weird type of way that only this series could manage to pull off. From Sally's complete 180 to Liz's touching death, "Be Our Guest" really made an effort to showcase that these characters are more than just hotel residents. They're a family. They may not be related by blood or DNA, but they share a deep connection and love for one another. Speaking of surprise connections, AHS: Hotel also made good on its promise to bring back Murder House 's favorite psychic Billie Dean Howard, played by Sarah Paulson. And her visit to the Cortez produced some rather surprising results.

As psychic, Billie has her own Lifetime show where she helps loved ones grieve and make contact with the deceased. So you can imagine how much her head must've been buzzing when she stepped inside this ghost-riddled hotel. In fact, she even managed to make contact with both Tristan and Donovan, the latter of which sent Iris a message detailing where he was and that he loved her. (His afterlife apparently smells like pancakes and is always Saturday morning. We should all hope to be so lucky!)

But the craziness really started when dear Billie made it her mission to contact the spirit of John Lowe. And for Halloween 2022, she definitely got her wish. Though he didn't die within the confines of the hotel, John is able to return to the Cortez for March's infamous Devil's Night. All the legendary killers returned for the evening and threatened to kill her if she didn't stop attacking the crazies to the hotel with her reality series. She agreed, of course, since she doesn't have a death wish, but I think it's safe to assume she won't be making any reservations there ever again.
