This Fact Makes David Bowie's Death So Bittersweet
In a devastating turn of events, legendary musician and actor David Bowie has died at the age of 69. A statement posted to his official Facebook reads: "David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief."
Bowie, also known by his alternative persona Ziggy Stardust, was 69-years-old when he passed. He is survived by his wife, Iman, and his two children, Duncan (from a previous marriage) and Alexandria Zahra Jones. It's of course a very difficult time for his family and friends, and anyone who loved the famed artist, but it's even sadder knowing this one fact about the singer's last days.
David Bowie was fighting a long battle with cancer, as the statement above says, and his death comes just two days after his 69th birthday. This is also the same day that he released his 28th (and final) album, Blackstar. Two happy things followed by one very sad thing is a heartbreaking reality for his fans, but it's also bittersweet. While the singer has passed away, he's left behind a legacy of iconic tunes, some incredibly memorable film roles, and now, a brand new album of music.
Rest in peace, David Bowie. You are missed by the masses.
