Jennifer Lawrence's Globes Date Is So Sweet

by Leah Marilla Thomas

I love it when stars bring surprising guests to the red carpet, but one power couple at the 2016 Golden Globes is a no-brainer. Jennifer Laurence's Golden Globes date is David O. Russell, the director of Joy, the movie Lawrence is nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy for. While it's unclear if Lawrence also brought another person as her official date, the star and the (also nominated) director paired up to do all of the red carpet interviews together on E! and NBC, so it seems like they decided to face the awards as a duo.

The two of them are clearly big supporters of one another. Joy marks Lawrence's third collaboration with the director and screenwriter, after Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle. They have praised each other a lot in the press recently, as well; most memorably, in an interview with Glamour, Lawrence said that David O. Russell would "hide a body" for her. She also told The Hollywood Reporter last year that she wants to keep working with Russell until one of them dies.

In the past, Lawrence has brought friends to awards shows with her, as well as her now ex-boyfriend Nicholas Hoult. I think a lot of fans expected her and Amy Schumer to walk the carpet together this year. However, she and David O. Russell are clearly a pair to be reckoned with in Hollywood, so it's fitting that they are attending the first big event of the year side by side.
