In a recent interview with W magazine, Amy Schumer revealed her celebrity crush: Christian Bale. And no, it wasn't his role as Batman that first piqued her interest — it was actually the 1992 movie Newsies. Leave it to Schumer to surprise everybody! Although she talks about crushing on Bale, is the comedian currently dating anyone? The answer is yes. According to recent social media posts, Schumer is dating Ben Hanisch. On Tuesday, Hanisch went to the White House with Schumer and her siblings for President Obama's emotional speech about gun control. The Trainwreck star even tweeted a photo with the caption, "Fam and man at the whitehizzy." Since she refers to him as such, let's learn more about her new man.
The first thing to know about Hanisch? He sounds like a total sweetheart. At the start of the new year, he shared an adorable photo of himself and Schumer all bundled up. The caption will make you swoon:

He's right — Schumer is brilliant and every other awesome adjective that he listed. Besides posting sentimental Instagrams, Hanisch lives in Chicago and founded a custom furniture company called Last Workshop. According to Last Workshop's About page, he "previously worked in various wood and fabrication shops, photography studios, design studios, and also as a design consultant." He designs sleek-looking tables, desks, and more.
It's unclear how long he and Schumer have been together, but it's at least been since the beginning of the New Year. Considering he already tagged along on her on a trip to the White House, I imagine they're quite close. The Chicago Tribune reports that Schumer has been spending time in Chicago, including performing with John Mulaney at a sold-out show on Christmas Eve. Could they have met then? Or perhaps she bought a table from his company and it led to a whirlwind romance? The possibilities are endless.
One thing is for sure: They both have a sense of humor. A scroll through Hanisch's Instagram posts reveals that Schumer likes to jokingly write, "I'm pregnant" on his photos. Not only did she write this on a picture he posted of a dog looking out an airplane, but on the picture of them together, she commented, "I'm pregnant. I didn't know how else to tell you." I'm going to have to guess that Schumer isn't having a baby, because that's the least exciting way to share the news.
And the jokes continue! As a response to the media's sudden interest in her love life, Schumer sarcastically tweeted that she's now dating Barack Obama. OK, so there's no romance between her and the President, but she is a huge supporter of ending gun violence and that's great. It's also nice to see Hanisch supporting Schumer's beliefs and joining her on such an important day.
Since Schumer tends to be pretty open about all aspects of her life, it's only a matter of time before Hanisch starts making more appearances in her photos. And who knows, maybe he'll find his way into an Inside Amy Schumer sketch.
