Lea Michele Gives Insight Into Her Relationship
For celebrities, dating, even in the best of circumstances, is a tricky thing. But attempting to date and enter a relationship after dealing with a very tragic and public loss is a whole different story, and it's something Lea Michele has experienced firsthand. Lea Michele offered up some insight into her current relationship in an interview on the Fempire Podcast, and how she's handled all that comes with it. Perhaps even more importantly, though, how that resilience is due to her perennially sunny outlook.
A major part of navigating a new relationship with an unfamiliar face in the public eye? Critics. As Michele explained, with a saint-like grace:
They don't know my private life, so I understand that people are going to say whatever they are going to say [but] as long and he and I are good, my family’s good, my friends are good, that’s all that matters.
And she's believes that anyone who hesitated to accept her boyfriend, Matthew Paetz, after the death of her former boyfriend Cory Monteith should reevaluate. The Scream Queens star holds her lost love's memory quite dear, enough to let it dictate at least a small part of her new relationship. Michele cited Paetz's reverence for Monteith, saying, "He is very respectful towards the person that I was with, and that, again, is something I love so much about him. I really know that Cory would love him too," proving that she remains positive and compassionate in spite of the negativity she received due to her "moving on."
Michele had this to say about her current relationship, specifically:
At the end of the day, this industry is really tough, and the only way to get through is to create a solid unit, and that’s really what we’ve been since day one. We’ve stood by each other through anything that was thrown our way. He is a such a great man that he would never really let anything like that ever crack our lovely little core that we've created.
Throughout the interview, one thing remains clear: Michele is focused on positivity, which has no doubt allowed her this incredibly nuanced life and love approach. Much like Glee's Rachel Berry, Michele proves that she is a force to be reckoned with. And that no one's going to rain on her parade... or, you know, her relationship.
