Selena Is "So Beyond Done" Talking About Justin

Tired of even hearing the word "Jelena"? Imagine being asked about it in every single interview you do. Such is the life of Selena Gomez, who just laid down the freaking law about discussing her relationship with Justin Bieber. Forget about being "sick of that same old love" — Gomez is sick of being asked about Justin Bieber. And I don't blame her.

Gomez, whose new album Revival contains some of the best music she has ever put out ("Good For You" and "Same Old Love" are frequent fixtures on my Spotify playlists), did not mince words when Bieber's name was brought up in a recent interview with Rolling Stone.

The Rolling Stone reporter — just doing his job, to be honest — inevitably had to ask about that Instagram video of Bieber serenading Gomez before the 2015 American Music Awards. And Gomez was confident, but firm, in her response.

"Well, I am sorry, first of all," she replied. "And honestly, what I would love to be printed is that I am so beyond done with talking about that, and him." Blunt. Honest. Badass.

What makes her attitude so empowering is that Gomez is incredibly honest without being rude. She knows she is worth more than her relationship with Bieber, and she isn't going to tolerate being asked about it anymore.

She continued to be blunt when asked if the public video of Bieber singing to her made it difficult to go to the AMAs.

"Not at all. I don't alter my life because of what people are going to talk about," Gomez Rolling Stone. "If I go and have a great time, I live my life and nothing is going to dictate how I feel unless I let it."

Preach it, Selena! I seriously cannot get over her badass attitude here. I want to bottle it and whip it out whenever I need a boost of strength and encouragement in my own life. Gomez knows her self-worth, her talent, and her sense of self — and none of that is dictated by a relationship that she started when she was a teenager.

In fact, she's been adamant about this fact throughout all the press for Revival.

"Everybody was talking about the same thing: my relationship... I was so exhausted," Gomez told Elle in October, recalling her 2014 AMAs performance of "The Heart Wants What It Wants." "I said, 'I want this [performance] to be the last time I have to talk about this.'"

And though there is no doubt that Gomez will continually be asked about her relationship with Bieber — particularly because the guy still stirs things up by posting throwback shots of them together — there is also no doubt that Gomez will keep shuttin' it down. And, hopefully, people will start getting the hint.
