Lamar Odom Seen In First Pic Since Hospitalization

This looks to be one big step toward recovery for Lamar Odom! Over the holidays, Odom's 13-year-old son, Lamar Odom Jr, posted a photo on Instagram of himself with Odom, giving us our first picture of the former NBA player since his October hospitalization in Nevada. His son captioned the picture, according to Us Weekly: “Christmas with my pops. Here’s to 2016. Blessed.” If rumors are to be believed, this is just another good sign that Odom is recovering well: Two weeks ago, a source revealed to gossip site TMZ , "He gets better a little bit every day. He took a few steps without the walker. It’s very slow and he’s supposed to go to the rehab any day now."

The 13-year-old, his sister Destiny, and their mother, Liza Morales, have remained by the athlete's side — but while the Laker alum has reportedly continued making steps towards recovery, the process hasn't been easy for anyone in his life. When Odom was hospitalized in October, his publicist, Eve Sarkisyan, released the following statement to Us Weekly:

Family and friends are extremely concerned for Lamar... Please don't listen to the false information being circulated unofficially. Please respect the family's privacy during this difficult time.

During his hospitalization, his legal wife, Khloé Kardashian, also stuck with him through the majority of his medical decision-making, and most of what we know about Odom's recovery efforts have come from her. She told Ellen DeGeneres in a November interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show :

I’m there helping him and I love him and I’ve always loved him. And that will never change. And I just feel like it’s a really insensitive thing to fast-forward a divorce. But I love him and I always will and he’s a fantastic person who deserves support and love and for someone to be by his side and for me I’m that to him.

She also shared the heartbreaking details of Odom's day-to-day condition, revealing to the talk show host:

We tell him that he had a brain injury, but we can’t tell him how that brain injury was caused, because that will set him back. He never asks why he’s here. He doesn’t ask. He’s really confused a lot — sometimes he knows who the president is and his birthday, and sometimes he thinks he’s 26, and I say I bet you wish you were 26, so do I!

As he continues to recover, hopefully Odom will continue his journey towards a full recovery in the company of Kardashian, his two children, and the rest of his family.
