When FOX returns from the midseason hiatus this winter, you may notice a new addition to the Sunday animation block. Who's in the voice cast of Bordertown? If you are a fan of Seth MacFarlane and animated comedy in general, the series boasts some of your favorites already.
According to the official FOX press release, Bordertown is about "two families living in a Southwest desert town on the U.S. — Mexico border. The series takes a satirical look at the cultural shifts occurring in America, where the U.S. Census forecasts that by 2017, ethnic minorities will become the majority. Set against this increasingly diverse backdrop, the comedy explores family, politics and everything in between with a cross-cultural wink." The two families are the Buckwalds and the Gonzalezes and they will become intertwined in many ways as the series progresses.
Here are many of the actors who make up the main Bordertown cast. Some of them, as I said before, make sense for the genre — and some are exciting newcomers! Other voices that you may hear from time to time include Zach Villa As "Carlos Sanchez," Efren Ramirez as "Ruiz," and Stephanie Escajeda as "Maria." Check them out!
Hank Azaria As "Bud Buckwald"
The Border Patrol Agent who leads the show is played by the legendary voice actor and comedian, who you may recognize from The Simpsons.
Missi Pyle As "Gert Buckwald"
Recently, the actress playing the youngest Buckwald was in Gone Girl, but I remember her from Galaxy Quest, Big Fish, and Charlie And The Chocolate Factory.
Nicholas Gonzalez As "Ernesto Gonzalez" and "JC"
On the flip side, the father in the other family is played by an actor you may recognize from Sleepy Hollow, The O.C., and Jane The Virgin. This could be a breakout role for him!
Judah Friedlander As "Sanford Buckwald"
The former 30 Rock star plays another member of the Buckwald family.
Carlos Alazraqui As "El Coyote"
He's the voice of Nester from Happy Feet and also lent his voice to Inside Out and just about any animated show you can name!
Alex Borstein As "Janice Buckwald" & "Becky Buckwald"
Like Azaria, this actress is vocal royalty. You may recognize her as Lois Griffin, Wonder Woman on Robot Chicken, and well as MADtv and Gilmore Girls.
Jacqueline Pinol as "Pepito Gonzalez"
Gert's Gonzalez counterpart is played by an actress who you may recognize from Days of Our Lives and various television guest stars.
John Viener As "Steve Hernandez"
Finally, Steve is played by Norm from Phineus and Ferb, who has also contributed various characters to Family Guy, The Cleveland Show, and American Dad! Basically, the new FOX animated series is in good hands and experienced vocal chords, so there is a lot to look forward to when Bordertown premieres.
