'Daredevil' Debuts New Character Elektra

by Michelle Lulic

There's a new kick-butt female in the Marvel Universe — and she's set to hit the small-screen and the streets of Hell's Kitchen along with the premiere of Daredevil Season 2. Yep, you guessed it right! We've gotten our first photo of Elektra in Daredevil Season 2, and it is glorious. The character is finally being reintroduced to the Marvel Universe following her 2003 portrayal by actress Jennifer Garner. This time, she's going to be played by The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo actress Elodie Yung. But it seems as if, this time around, Elektra is only going to make things more complicated — and a whole lot sexier — for one of our favorite crime-fighting good guys, Matt Murdock (played by Charlie Cox).

“Matt’s a deeply moral complicated guy, and she’s just the best bad girlfriend you can possibly have. She does everything wrong and attractive, she’s his id, the wild side," says Daredevil showrunner Doug Petrie in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Weekly, "Matt is always taming his wild side. Elektra just lets it out. He’s both repulsed and deeply drawn to that.” But, how will Elektra's character fair in the upcoming 2016 Jessica Jones and Daredevil crossover, The Defenders ? Well, it's hard to say right now since we don't exactly know what her storyline will be.

But with Jessica Jones pairing up with Luke Cage — and Elodie Yung not yet listed to even be a part of the combination spin-off show — it doesn't seem as if Elektra is going to be starting any crazy love-triangle drama. However, I am super excited to see what she has in store for us in Daredevil's Season 2. Especially after seeing Entertainment Weekly's exclusive first-look at the latest goal-worthy female hero. Seriously, just go take a look for yourself.

All I can say about her upcoming character for now is this: I. can't. wait. Not only does Yung have the perfect sultry, mischievous look that keeps us on our toes, but she also has a black-belt in karate — so her fighting moves are most-likely going to be all her own. Daredevil's Season 2 premiere will be hitting Netflix in April 2016.
