If you are a child of the '90s and still love the decade's fashion milemarkers, you are no doubt stoked about last night's news of a thrilling upcoming fashion collabo between a grunge goddess and a modern online shopping mecca! So when will Courtney Love for Nasty Gal be available? When can you shop the range? Well, that's a good question.
While Nasty Gal hasn't confirmed exactly when it will begin selling its collabo with Love, the queen of the '90s riot grrrl look, all signs point to early 2016.
In fact, Love x Nasty could be available as soon as January. That's because the retailer announced a contest on its site and via social media where one lucky winner will win the chance to attend a launch party, held in Los Angeles on Jan. 13. Love and Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso — you know, the girl boss of all girl bosses— will attend the party.
Below is the Instagram post detailing the contest, which includes a shopping spree to the tune of $1000. The sole reason to have this contest and the ensuing party is to build hype for the range right when it becomes available online and at the brand's two physical outposts in So Cal.
So I am thinking the pieces will be stoppable right after the party and by mid-to-late January... at the earliest!
I am also thinking by mid-February at the latest, as The Hollywood Reporter noted that the collection will bow in early 2016. The launch party should help create a fever pitch of excitement for the pieces and get online shoppers pointing and clicking immediately and/or soon after.
As of press time, there were already over 300 #nastygalxcourtneylove Instagram posts as part of the contest, which asks fans to post a photo of their fave female musician and explain how music inspires them.
Love's '90s looks were super unique, as she mixed girlish accents like plastic barrettes and babydoll dresses with Peter Pan collars with combat boots and smeared red lipstick. Whether or not you loved or hated her look or her antics and her image, her style was definitive and in many ways empowered other girls of the era. That cannot be denied.
How Love's look will translate in 2016 via her Nasty Gal collabo remains to be seen. Consider me ready to shop as soon as it's available. I am getting the sense that this partnership will be a great way to herald 2016 fashion. I have this vibe that Courtney Love x Nasty Gal pieces will be easily mixed with items you already own and be able to be worn year-round.
