New 'X-Files' Reboot Characters You Have To Meet
There are only a few more weeks that we have to wait until The X-Files revival miniseries returns to rock all of our sci-fi loving worlds, and, until then, Fox is going crazy with promotion for the show. One clip that recently came out is “Re-Opened,” a 21-minute behind-the scenes clip in which a number of spoilers, plot twists, and new characters are introduced. And, when it comes to new characters, the revived X-Files is on fire. Not only will fans of the show get Mulder and Scully back on their television screens, they will also get a number of new characters, who are making the revival even better. And, trust me, you’re going to want to meet these new characters.
Four in particular play a pretty big role in the six-part miniseries premiering on Fox on January 24. These characters either bring big actors to the show or refer to some awesome throwback moments that will satisfy even the most earnest of X-File fans. So, before you tune into the revival on January 24, make sure you take the time to get to know these new critical players in The X-Files world. These characters in particular are going to bring new life — and new storylines — to the series you know and love.
1. John Fitzgerald Byers
The X-Files revival is working hard to harken back to the original series as best they can. And Byers, a member of The Lone Gunmen, does just that. Remember, The Lone Gunmen was actually a spinoff series that tried to be a more humorous version of The X-Files. Even though it was cancelled after 13 episodes, it’s cool to see the creators of the revival bringing that storyline back in a big way.
2. Melvin Frohike
Another member of The Lone Gunmen, Frohike and his buddies work as Internet aficionados who both help and hinder Mulder and Scully’s extraterrestrial efforts.
3. Richard “Ringo” Langly
Ringo is another member of The Lone Gunmen, and, given that these three guys have recurring roles in the revival miniseries, I’m guessing they’re going to play a big role in solving whatever mysteries Mulder and Scully are trying to solve.
4. Tad O’Malley
O’Malley, played by Joel McHale, is an Internet news anchor who works with Mulder to bring him important and breaking news. Count on him being the comic relief, and the one to provide critical information to Mulder and Scully.
5. Sveta
A victim of alien abduction, Sveta shows how the storylines have changed in the new revival, and how the characters and Mulder and Scully have grown in their relationship to each other and to the people they’re trying to help.
