DJ/busboy James has shown some pretty nefarious behavior on Vanderpump Rules Season 4. He’s been basically the worst, so does that make James Kennedy the best reality show villain of all time? Those are some pretty big shoes to fill, but James could be on his way. At the end of Season 3, he picked a fight with then-girlfriend Kristen Doute at their pal Scheana’s wedding, which obviously is not the space for that. He consistently accuses Kristen of cheating on him, when in reality he is the one who's had a wandering eye. But none of this is any match for the crap that James has pulled in Season 4.
He started off the season by getting way too drunk and taking one of Scheana’s friends, Jenna, home after Scheana’s decade-themed birthday party. Kristen, being the sleuth that she is, saw that James sent Jenna home in an Uber at 6 a.m. the next day. James told the camera in his interview and basically everyone else that he and Jenna hooked up, but lied to Kristen about it. Eventually, she found out the truth, James accused her of cheating on him, and then they broke up. Next, James called new SUR hostess Lala a slut, and then started kind of dating her. Then he slept with one of the other girls at SUR and showed up with scratch marks all over his body the morning after. What is going on here, James?
While some could say that James is the best/worst reality villain that we’ve seen on television, I disagree. I just think that he’s very young and he’s going through a lot — his mother visited in a recent episode and they talked about the fact that James’ parents are getting a divorce after 20 years together. That could really throw your compass off center, you know? Not that any of that is an excuse to cheat, but I think James is acting out because of his own personal issues, and will likely come around once he's worked through them. I just hope he'll be more respectful towards women when that happens.
But if you want to see some real reality television villains, I can think of a few that are worse than James.
Jonny Fairplay, Survivor: Pearl Islands
While on Survivor, Jonny planned to have a visiting friend tell him that his grandmother (who was alive and well) had died during filming, and boy, did he cry all over about it. He garnered huge amounts of sympathy and got to the final three contestants of the show. Jeff Probst even told him he was “despicable.”
Marcel Vigneron, Top Chef
Say what you want about Marcel, but he could cook. Unfortunately, that was about all he could do, because he did not get along with anyone else on Top Chef. He pushed every other contestant’s buttons, but he did get a spot in the finals — I guess all of that attitude paid off.
Wendy Pepper, Project Runway
I don’t know what it was about Wendy. She was fairly talented as far as Project Runway designers go (it was only the first season at this point), but I think that Wendy would have betrayed own mother to get to the tents of Fashion Week. She did make it to the finals, but Jay McCarroll took that trophy home.
Lying, backstabbing, cheating? James suddenly isn't in the running for biggest reality villain, no matter how ridiculous his antics may get on Vanderpump Rules.
