Miley Lines Up Another MTV Performance

by Ivy Jacobson

She's baaaack — with crooked, fake teeth, no less. Since it's officially awards show season, i.e. no raunchy musical performances by Miley Cyrus on the horizon, there's been a real twerking drought lately. However, MTV announced on Jan. 20 that Miley would be performing during her own "Miley Cyrus: MTV Unplugged" show on Jan. 29. at 9 p.m. ET. Apparently, we may be in for a rootin' tootin' good time, based on the promo picture for the show.

Cyrus is going for a very "cowgirl-meets-Marilyn-Monroe-in-need-of-a-dentist" look in the picture that she Instagrammed. Donning star-shaped pasties (is there any other shape, really?), a bandana, fake teeth, a blonde wig, a feathery skirt, and a cowboy hat, it's definitely nothing like her recent melancholy Marc Jacobs modeling venture.

Cyrus is joining lots of artists, such as Nirvana, Jay-Z, Katy Perry, and Eric Clapton, who have done "MTV Unplugged" shows before. Although the show is a chance for Cyrus to strip down her party songs into acoustic jams and really showcase her voice, MTV tweeted that it would be one for the books.

What does this mean? More twerking? No censoring? Dancing with dwarves? Giant teddy bears, tongues, and sledgehammers? I appreciate Cyrus' couture turn lately, but let's be real. If she's on an MTV program, I want to see some excitement.

The trailer features scenes from "Wrecking Ball," and Cyrus slithering around in a fur coat with some kind of stuffed animal, and multiple shots sticking her tongue out of her mouth in an old-fashioned hat. So far, her "Unplugged" episode looks like one big fun game of dress-up. She'll begin her Bangerz tour on Feb. 14, so perhaps this will be her last TV appearance for awhile. Maybe she'll indulge us and sing an acoustic version of "Party in the USA" to celebrate?
