Move over fans of Science Bros (that's Tony Stark and Bruce Banner, for those of you not in the know), there's a new bromance in town: FinnPoe, or Stormpilot (I'm still working on the name, OK?). Yes, while many have been speculating on the potential new Star Wars couple of ex-stormtrooper Finn and new heroine Rey, fans are leaving The Force Awakens with a new duo in mind: Finn and Poe Dameron. With The Force Awakens finally out in theaters, fans who saw the movie on opening weekend immediately took to the Internet to declare FinnPoe the definitive Force Awakens couple. Some are even theorizing that the duo could become canon in future films. Regardless of whether or not Finn and Poe's relationship becomes romantic later on, it's still an awesome friendship that needs to be treasured and adored as such.
To start off FinnPoe appreciation, let's look at the facts that support this budding bromance sure to rival that of Han Solo and Chewie. Spoilers ahead! Finn and Poe first meet early on in The Force Awakens when Finn realizes he needs to leave The First Order and so he breaks Poe out of captivity to help him escape. The odd couple bond as they fly away, with Poe helping Finn learn how to use the cannons and also naming Finn because he refuses to call him FN-2187 (aw). Poe is instrumental in helping Finn create his own identity separate from his conditioned life as a Stormtrooper. In other words, Poe is a super supportive bae.
Though the new buddies become separated when they crash land on Jakku, Finn walks away from their ship with Poe's super sexy, and one-size-fits-all, Resistance leather jacket and quickly sheds his Stormtrooper armor and puts it on. Later, when Poe and Finn finally reunite, not only do they run into each others' arms (seriously, it's a hug that rivals those in the opening of Love Actually), but Poe tells Finn to keep his jacket. Poe like to see bae wearing his clothes.
Finn and Poe are also great teammates in the field, when they're not busy cheering frantically for each other on the sidelines. After reuniting at the Resistance base, Finn tells Poe he needs help getting Rey back from Kylo Ren, and Poe doesn't even bat an eye. He immediately takes Finn straight to General Leia so they can get started rescuing Rey. Thanks Poe!
Now, if you're thinking that, sure, Poe and Finn have a great bromance, but Finn was totally flirting with Rey and there's no way FinnPoe will become canon, you might be right. However, the same interview fans are using to suggest that Finn and Rey will be a couple is also being used by Stormpilot shippers to prove why Finn and Poe will be a couple. In the interview, Ellen DeGeneres asked Oscar Isaac (Poe), John Boyega (Finn) and Daisy Ridley (Rey) about potential romance in The Force Awakens. "I think there's a very subtle romance that's happening. You know, you just have to look very closely — you have to watch it a few times to see the little hints, but there was," Isaac teased, adding, "At least I was playing romance."
Yes, Isaac could have been joking, but, the proof is in the pudding. FinnPoe for life!
