What You Should Know About Miss Universe 2015

Much to Steve Harvey's confusion, Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach won the Miss Universe 2015 competition, and once we all got passed that seriously awkward and uncomfortable moment, the focus was back on the real winner, Wurtzbach. Aside from the fact that she's obviously jaw-droppingly stunning, you might not know that much else about her, and since she's going to wear the crown for the next year, there's a few things you should probably know about Miss Philippines.

When you're watching the show from home and just meeting the ladies for the first time, it's sometimes hard to pick a favorite. I mean, they're all beautiful, and aside from what we see on stage, we don't really know all that much about them. You obviously gathered that she can totally rock an evening gown, can be graceful in a chaotic situation, and has a big heart (in the interview round, she said she wanted to use her platform as Miss Universe to raise awareness for causes such as HIV and to influence the youth). But now that her title is actually official, it might be a good time to go a little bit deeper and learn a few more things about her.

Starting with the fact that her strut is f-i-e-r-c-e. But anyways....

1. She's Not Just Filipina

Though she represented the Philippines, Wurtzbach's father is German, and she was actually born in Stuttgart.

2. She's Not A One-Trick Pony

She may be a pageant girl, but she's also a trained chef. The new winner got a degree in Culinary Arts at the Center For Culinary Studies.

3. She Loves Fashion

If you loved her fashion on Sunday night's show, it might be because she has a background in it. Wurtzbach is a stylist, makeup artist, and beauty writer for a magazine in the Philippines.

4. She's No Stranger To Fame

Wurtzbach was a child star, acting on children's shows and even movies such as All About Love and All My Life.

5. She Fought For Her Title

It took Wurtzbach three times to win the right to represent the Philippines in the Miss Universe pageant.

6. She Has A Sweet Tooth

Wurtzbach loves sweets, and admitted that given the chance, she'd try to eat all the ice cream flavors she could. You and me both, girl.

7. She's New To Pageants

Her first pageant was in 2013, so it didn't take her too long to skyrocket right to the top.
