Demi Lovato & Joe Jonas Are #ExGoals
When Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas broke up in 2010, the singers said all the right, PR-friendly things about "continuing to be friends" and "caring about [their] friendship." For the most part, anyone who vows to "remain friends" after a breakup — famous or not — knows that the line is complete BS and is just something you say so that the past however many months or years of your life weren't completely wasted on a person who is no longer in your life. But here's the thing: It's five years later, and Lovato and Jonas have totally kept that promise. In fact, they've more than kept that promise. Because if "vacation with Demi Lovato's longtime boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama" doesn't say "BFF4L," I don't know what does. Demi Lovato and Joe Jonas are #ExGoals for sure.
After weeks of traveling across the country playing Jingle Ball shows, Lovato, Joe Jonas, and Nick Jonas left for a badass vacation in St. Barth's — with Valderrama in tow. While it's not necessarily a surprise that the foursome got along so well — the Jonas brothers are kind of experts at staying friends with their exes — it's super admirable. I mean, more power to Lovato and Joe and Valderrama all being super chill with each other and actually all being so close. It's way more than I could ever personally do.
Let's pause for a moment and talk about how Lovato refers to all three guys as "her boys." Too sweet. The #ExGoals are already legit.
It's awesome that Valderrama and Nick can hang just as friends without any weirdness between them. Of course, the same goes for Nick and Lovato, for putting their friendship first and leaving any qualms about their breakup in the past.
Admittedly, things did get a little weird during the vacay, namely when "Joe Jonas" and Wilmer Valderrama did "the lift" from Dirty Dancing together:
At the end of the day, it's refreshing to see how close Lovato and Joe are — close enough to go on vacation with Lovato's current BF and not have it be awkward or weird or the many, many other uncomfortable adjectives it could be. While I am not and will never be someone who could stay that tight with an ex, it's nice to know that there are people out there who can do it, particularly in a celebrity-obsessed culture and environment where it's easy to pit exes against each other. Shoutout to Lovato and Joe for breaking that mold — and being the celebrity #ExGoals we all deserve.
