What Your Fave Spice Girls Song Says About You

by Sabienna Bowman

When I think of my childhood I remember Yoo-hoos, shipping Mulder and Scully, and the Spice Girls, not necessarily in that order. The Spice Girls left an especially lasting impression since they personified the girl power movement. Unlike the never-ending parade of boy bands that divided my friends along lines of allegiance to The Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC, and 98 Degrees, the Spice Girls brought people together. These pop trailblazers left a lasting impact on almost everyone who came of age in the late '90s and early '00s. Everyone I knew had a special Spice Girls anthem. There was always one song that spoke to me just a little bit louder than the rest, and the same was true for my friends. The coolest part? Your fave Spice Girls song was totally revealing — and still is to this day.

Sure, you might have a favorite Spice Girl, but everyone understood that the band was a team whether you loved Baby Spice or Posh Spice more. And which Spice Girls song is your jam says so much about you. The band sang about friendship, romance, partying, and so much more. Are you ready to spice up your life by finding out what your favorite Spice Girls song says about you? Prepare to be amazed.

"Wannabe"

You will settle for nothing less than perfection. Even when you were a kid you couldn't stand to see someone coloring outside of the lines. When it comes to wine, movies, and, yes, music, only the very best will do. Having discerning tastes can be a good thing, but don't let them stop you from exploring less pristine, but more creatively interesting, works though.

"Spice Up Your Life"

The ultimate optimist, you are a human ball of energy and sunshine. You are the first one on the dance floor and the last one off. Your open and happy personality has led you to acquire an astonishing number of friends, but, like your favorite band, your core squad consists of three or four friends you can't imagine living without.

"2 Become 1"

Your idealism is both your greatest strength and your greatest weakness. Your penchant for falling in love with every real or fictional person you come across has led to a lot of heartbreak. While there is no shame in loving freely and crying over pop ballads at work, sometimes it is as important to listen to your head as it is to your heart.

"Stop"

Dude, you have reservoirs of strength even you don't know about. You have no patience for being pushed around, and you are a consummate champion for the little guy. Anyone who gets in your way, or your friends', will feel the brunt of your wrath.

"Say You'll Be There"

You are no quitter. When you want something, you go after it with everything you've got. Your unrelenting nature can bug some people, but those who know you the best admire your can't quit attitude.

"Too Much"

If you were a Spice Girl, you would be Classy Spice. You love all things retro and romantic. You are always embracing your sultry side, while also using your wardrobe to express your sense of whimsy. Your musical tastes are endlessly eclectic, with jazz and the Spice Girls sharing shelf space.

"Headlines (Friendships Never End)"

Nostalgia is your BFF. There is nothing you enjoy more than reminiscing about the good old days with the people you love. While it is awesome that you have so many wonderful times to look back on, be careful not to get so caught up in the past that you forget to appreciate the present.

"Viva Forever"

You have been in a relationship for a long time, and you're still happy. Your life is so together and on track that you have become the "mom" of your group. That doesn't mean you can't have a great time when you want to though. You can still party with the best of them.

"Mama"

Gilmore Girls is your favorite show in the world. You are super tight with your family and proud of it. Your mom is your life hero, and, since she is the coolest person you know, she is the perfect role model.

"Goodbye"

You are proof that being a realist can be a huge asset. You live firmly in the now, and, while you have let go of most of your childhood faves, you know that doesn't mean you can't revisit them. Your forward-thinking nature is a constant asset to you and everyone in your circle.

See, your favorite Spice Girls song can be totally illuminating — and may leave you jonesing to see Spice World again. Embrace your feelings, guys.
