NBC is Making 'Peter Pan Live': But Who Will Play Peter, Wendy?

Remember how well The Sound of Music Live! was received? We don't either, but apparently the execs at NBC's office have amnesia because they're trying the stage to screen gig again this time with Peter Pan. "We’re very pleased to be underway on Peter Pan as our next live holiday musical for the whole family,” said Robert Greenblatt, NBC Entertainment chairman. “In the hopes that lightning strikes twice, we think we’ve landed on another great Broadway musical ... that is a timeless classic for all audiences, young and old, who just never want to grow up.”

None of the roles have been cast yet, but Greenblatt "joked" that he wants Miley Cyrus for Peter. Though that would certainly be an interesting take on J.M. Barrie's work, we've made our own choices for the roles.

Zac Efron as Peter Pan

He’s already trained to dance and sing and when he shaves he’s got a total baby face.

Jena Malone as Tinkerbell

Even though stage productions of Peter Pan tend to have a bright light play Peter’s fairy friend, if they did cast a live actress, it should totally be Malone. If you saw her in Catching Fire you know she’s queen of sass; her jealous Tinkerbell would be unparalleled.

Emma Watson as Wendy

Remember when 22-year-old Emma was stopped at aiport security because they thought she was an unaccompanied minor? Perfect, that means that she can totally pull off the young Wendy Darling and keep her British accent while she’s at it because unfortunately she’s terrible at any other kind.

Logan Lerman as John Darling

He’s just young enough to get away with playing the eldest Darling boy and looks nerdy with glasses on. Bonus: he and Emma have already worked together.

Jack Gore as Michael Darling

Currently starring on the Michael J. Fox Show, this newcomer is adorable and would play the perfect youngest Darling.

Kate Winslet as Mrs. Darling

J.M. Barrie’s Mary Darling is described as romantic and intelligent both of which Winslet already is. Having starred in Finding Neverland, a Peter Pan-themed movie, she’s got the background to play the role and the actress is a great singer so ABC could definitely use her talents.

Benedict Cumberbatch as Mr. Darling

I’m pretty sure he was born to play the role of George Darling which Wikipedia describes as “a pompous, blustering businessman who seeks to attract attention (from his co-workers to his wife and children), but he is really kind at heart.”

Russel Brand as Captain Hook

This was a toss up between Johnny Depp and Brand, but in the end I decided to give it to Brand because the only pirate I ever want Depp to play is Captain Jack Sparrow. Russell Brand is perfect for the part and has already been dressed up as the evil captain for Disney’s Dream Portraits.

Chris O'Dowd as Mr. Smee

With a little rounding for the role and a good wig, O’Dowd could play the best bumbling stuttering counterpart to Captain Hook.

Shay Mitchell as Tiger Lily

This Pretty Little Liars star would be the perfect person to round out Peter Pan and Wendy’s love triangle.
