Taylor Swift's 14 Quirkiest Fashion Moments
Taylor Swift is not one to shy away from an outfit, whether she's going for a statement piece, or an overall surprising ensemble. From music videos, to the red carpet, to her casual daytime looks, Taylor Swift's quirkiest outfits are not few and far in between. In fact, they're pretty ubiquitous. In honor of her 26th birthday, we're rolling out some of her most memorable style moments that we certainly won't be forgetting anytime soon.
I mean, this chick has a song titled "Style," so it's safe to say that fashion is a pretty important part of her life. With her crop tops, matching separates, and an array of dresses, I'd say her style is pretty all-American feminine, with some classics thrown in there (hello, red lip and cat eye). But it seems that as she does get older, her style has also evolved (remember her turquoise dress and cowboy boots ensemble, or graphic tees #neverforget).
Now, you'll find Swift in flattering skirts, little black dresses, overalls, ankle booties, and even grandma-style kitten block heels. Perhaps some of her most standout moments happen on the Red Carpet of award shows, where she's definitely not afraid to take risks. After all, #YOLO (did I just say that? I did). There's only so many moments you can wear a Mary Katrantzou jumpsuit to the VMA's. Here's to you, Swift, for never backing down when it comes to style.
1. Said Jumpsuit
Taylor wore this jumpsuit to the 2014 VMA's and paired it with some maroon red mules, and pretty much everyone freaked out. The leggy look got compared to an ice skater's ensemble and made for some hilarious memes.
2. Sequins Galore
Swift is definitely a fan of matching separates, and this look at the 2015 VMA's certainly followed suit. The sequined outfit was made by Ashish Gupta of Ashish, a designer from Delhi.
3. Stunning In Baby Blue
First of all, what an unexpected color! I've got to say, though, that I've fallen in love with it. Cut outs, draping, beads — This look has it all, but somehow, just works.
4. Emerald Queen
At the ELLE Style Awards in 2015, Swift stepped out in this emerald and black dress and slicked back hair. A little luxurious, a little dark, a lot of attitude.
5. The Ultimate Accessory
I mean, who gets to have a personalized clutch with the name of their chart-topping song on it? Taylor Swift, apparently.
6. Lady In....Dragons?
She's all about the drama, and this Roberto Cavalli Atelier gown proves just that, with a sparkly red dragon embroidered in the back.
7. Texture Galore
Man, she's got a thing for playsuits! Lavender, pearls, and platform heels? Yep, she did it.
8. Matching Plaid
While this look at the 2014 iHeart Radio Awards could've gone towards the ugly sofa deep end, Swift still manages to pull it off, probably because of the cropped bustier and perfect fit.
9. Pink, Pink, Pink
Bubble gum? Cotton candy? Cheerleader? All three? Whatever this look resembled, she gets 10/10 for spirit.
10. Red, White, & Blue
So this was for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show, but still pretty quirky. Check out that adorable hat!
11. This Cape
Of course, a performer transforms on stage! This black and red look with a dramatic cape hints at Swift's edgier side.
12. Unicorn Love
This is so early T. Swift, it hurts! She was all about the graphic tees. Remember her "No, it's becky" one? Iconic.
13. Where's Waldo
This pretty much ensures that you at least won't get lost on stage!
14. & Last But Not Least....
The ultimate throwback. Swift posted this on Sunday to celebrate her 26th year. Little Mermaid shirt and colorful backpack? Quirky, but so approve.
As pattern shows, I predict that in her 26th year, T. Swift will be debuting more totally bonkers looks that somehow just work when she puts them on. One thing's for sure: Her looks certainly will never be boring.
