I don't know about you, but I always find it super weird when my favorite characters from one franchise pop up in another, so I was pretty jarred to see that Sophie Turner opens the newly-released X-Men: Apocalypse trailer. Pleasantly jarred of course, but still jarred. Because hey, Sansa Stark, how did you escape Game of Thrones, and more importantly, Littlefinger's clutches, to sneak all the way into a movie about mutants? Did you learn this trick from your GoT costar Natalie Dormer, who gave me a similar jolt when she cropped up in the Hunger Games series? All you Westeros ladies just can't help but be drawn to Jennifer Lawrence franchises, I guess!
But in any case, you'll have to get over whatever confusion you felt at seeing Sansa Stark in the first few moments of this trailer, because Turner is playing Jean Grey in this 80s-based sequel to X-Men: Days Of Future Past , and she's far from the most intense part of the trailer, so buckle up. We learn pretty quickly that the villain we're dealing with this time around is no joke — he's the first mutant ever, from 10,000 years ago, and his power is so much greater than anything the world has experienced before that even Professor X is terrified. His name, fittingly, is "Apocalypse," and he isn't all that impressed with the state of the world now, so he's amassing a team of four incredibly powerful mutants to help him cleanse it. Yikes. This is gonna be an intense one for sure... if you can even handle the terrifying and dramatic trailer.
Agh! I'm in head-to-toe goosebumps right now, and I don't know if I can handle the wait until May 27, 2016, when this star-studded behemoth hits theaters. Guess I'll just have to watch the trailer 294823487 more times in preparation.
