This New 'I Saw The Light' Poster Is Very Telling

by Vannessa Jackson

In case you've been living under a rock for the last few years, Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen are going to star in new Hank Williams biopic, I Saw the Light. The pair will play Hank and Audrey Mae Williams, in a film based on the story of the legendary country singer who came to fame in the late 1940s. From the beginning, this film has made a concentrated effort to do the late singer justice, and keep it as authentic as possible. The newly released I Saw The Light movie poster reinforces this fact. Hiddleston is channeling Williams perfectly, and the result is eerily good.

The trailer for I Saw The Light begins with a quote from Williams that sets the tone for the film, adding to the authenticity that the film and the actor are trying to get across. Hiddleston's performance in the short trailer showcases that the film is definitely going to waste no fanfare and stay true to the story of Williams' rise and eventual death. While the trailer provided some great material to get excited over, there is also a lot to be seen in the movie poster. There are a few things that this poster will show us about the future of the film, and what to expect.

For instance, there are going to be a little bit of dark undertones according to the movie's tagline: "Everybody has a little darkness in them." Here are a few other takeaways learned about the movie from the new poster.

Tom Hiddleston Can Pull Off Any Look

From Loki to Williams, Hiddleston can basically pull off any look or character and make it work. An impressive feat for any actor, and one of the reasons this film is one of the most anticipated of 2016. This character will be nothing like his character of Loki in Thor. Not to mention the fact that it's an impressive feat having a British actor take on a country accent and actually do it flawlessly.

Be Prepared For A Little Darkness

This is not going to be a happy go lucky film, but usually the Oscar winners aren't, and this film will hopefully score Hiddleston an Oscar nod. While his relationship with Olsen's character is a major story arc, the focus of the film will not be a sweet romance, which is evidenced by Olsen's missing presence on the poster.

There Will Be Lots of Quotable Takeaways

This film will be one to remember, if not for the actual premise, then for the quotes that keep popping up for the film. Not a whole lot of movie posters have giant quotes about the actors' performance on the top, but this official poster didn't waste any space. Plus, there have been a few different tag lines and repetitive quotes floating around about the movie. I'm sure there are a few songs that will stick in our heads as well.

The film is set to premiere on March 25, 2015. Check out the full trailer below, and then marvel at the poster again.
