Are Louis Tomlinson & Briana Jungwirth Dating?

It's no longer a secret that Louis Tomlinson and Briana Jungwirth are expecting a baby. And though my initial reaction to this news still haunts my dreams (see: major all-caps freakout texts to friends who care just as deeply about this kind of pop culture shock as I do), I've more or less accepted the fact that Tomlinson is going to be a dad. Especially because baby Tommo's due date is fast approaching and he or she could be entering the world as early as January 2016 (prepare ye, 1D fandom). As the reality hits more and more that the One Direction singer is going to be a father, fans are wondering about the status of his relationship with Jungwirth — particularly after he was spotted on a maybe-date with actress Danielle Campbell. Are Louis Tomlinson and Briana Jungwirth dating?

To put it bluntly, Tomlinson and Jungwirth are not dating and, according to the People source who broke that baby shocker news, are just "very, very close friends." Of course, a baby isn't exactly created out of a platonic friendship of casual hugs, so it's obvious that the two have had at least one "more-than-friends" moment. But as anyone who has been on Tinder can probably attest, one night of casual fun does not a relationship make. So it's time to end the BS reports that the singer was somehow "cheating" on Jungwirth by maybe going on a date with Originals actress Campbell, because you can't exactly cheat on someone you're not dating.

Still, it's not hard to see why Tomlinson has been getting the side-eye from some fans about his recent behavior. As someone who watches ungodly amounts of every Teen Mom franchise known to man, it is questionable baby daddy behavior when the dad-to-be is allegedly out partying with a group of women and is maybe going on a date with someone else. There's an assumption that upon finding out you are going to be a parent, you should "settle down" and maybe not look for romantic affection and attention during this period in your life. But who knows: Maybe Tomlinson is just getting this all out of his system before he becomes a dad.

According to a report by the Mirror, the singer even publicly declared that he is not dating anyone during a TV appearance last month, answering "Well, I am" after a reporter asked who in the band was single. It certainly follows that same narrative that sources have been claiming all along.

"Louis is happy and very excited about becoming a dad and he thinks Briana will be an amazing mother. It was a surprise at first, but he and Briana are very, very close friends and this has brought them even closer," the People source claimed when the baby news broke in July.

"They are both really happy and although they aren’t in a relationship, their friendship is extremely strong and they are both really excited about the baby," the insider added. "It’s early days and Briana and the baby’s health are the most important things right now."

Even a HollywoodLife source denied that Tomlinson and Jungwirth were a romantic item.

"Louis wants to do the right thing and be supportive of Briana and the baby, but in terms of a romance, he’s not thinking about that at all," the source told the site. "This was all quite sudden for Louis, and the realization that he’s going to be a father hasn’t quite sunk in yet, but he’s coming to terms with it as best he knows."

As for their plan to co-parent, it seems like everything is going swimmingly so far. According to People, Tomlinson is reportedly set to purchase an L.A. home to be near Jungwirth and has "flown across the world" to be with her for every ultrasound appointment, with a source saying he plans to be a very "hands-on" dad. When Tomlinson confirmed the news on Good Morning America over the summer, he said it was "obviously a very exciting time." Aww. And notably, Jungwirth (and her obvious baby bump) attended a One Direction show back in September, where I imagine that Baby Tommo was busy rocking out to "No Control" just like his dad.
