Rihanna is the creative director over at Puma and is tasked with using her influence to revitalize the long-running athleisure brand. There's a rumor that Rihanna and Puma will show at NYFW in February, which would be a huge deal. Those killer Rihanna x Puma creeper sneakers sold out on the quick and are really, really hard to get your hands on, indicating that the Rihanna Navy and the public are responding to this collabo. Are the singer and the brand all about taking it to the next level? It seems so.
RiRi launched a line with European brand River Island and has been expanding her fashion business portfolio, with her beauty and styling agencies. It would make sense for her cap off all of her prior fashion activity with an actual show, since no one knows WTF is going on with her next album.
That said, Puma is a street style, mall brand. It's not prestige, but who cares! It'd be pretty rad to see the brand peddle its wares down the NYFW runways. Street style is the new couture and Rihanna embodies that concept.
Vogue reported the news of a Rihanna x Puma fashion show set for Friday, Feb. 12 at 8PM, based on a Rihanna-issued tweet that linked to an auction for two front row tickets to the show.
The auction benefits Rihanna's Clara Lionel Foundation. The Puma team has yet to confirm the NYFW details. But it seems like a foregone conclusion that it's happening because of the live auction. Bustle reached out to Puma for comment and is waiting to hear back.
Here's a screen grab of the auction for the front row "experience," which nabbed a hefty, $15,000 bid.
Obvs, the NYFW tickets are as tough to get as the actual creepers!
Rihanna is often front row at fashion shows, since she is such a fashion influencer. She looked so chic and classic in her satin burgundy dress.
She has friends in high places, like Alexander Wang. It makes me wonder who else will be front row for RiRi x Puma... other than the person who ends up paying $15,000 for the honor via the auction.
So this happened once.
Rihanna is just as attention-grabbing as the models on the actual runways at fashion shows.
It would also be super rad if RiRi walked in the Puma show. Why not, right?
A Rihanna x Puma fashion show is a thrilling concept since street style is becoming more and more accept and respected in the fashion world.
