These Are The Most Popular Fashion Trends Of 2015

Today Tumblr released its "Most Reblogged Fashion Trends of 2015" list via the Tumblr Radar. Every year Tumblr gives back to its content creators and sharers by spending several weeks sorting through tons of statistics on the "millions of different Tumblrs with billions of posts and quadrillions of notes on them," according to the Year In Review page. They then analyze the web traffic, follower counts, and more and sort all the winners into a bunch of categories. Then they compile neat little lists for people like you and me to enjoy. They also purportedly had too much lasagna while prepping this year's end of year lists, but that's impossible because there's no such thing as too much lasagna. You can trust me; I'm an Italian.

Tumblr has been known to inspire fashion and beauty addicts everywhere. With access to photos, tutorials, links, et cetera, men and women all over the world can access global trends at the click of their computer mouse. This year, Tumblr has put together a list of the twenty most popular styles and aesthetics and noted that they were, "Preemptively wearing socks and sandals in anticipation of 2027 trends." Yeah, good luck with that one, guys. We'll light a candle for you.

1. Grunge

A category of endless flannels, ripped black jeans, and Kurt Cobain references.

2. Hipster

Hipster looks similar, but includes a lot of skirts and high-wasted jeans. I expect the same for Indie.

3. Indie

I'd heard of Olivia Wilde before she was cool.

4. Vintage

Everyone's grandma had that one dress you've obsessed over.

5. Pale

Being pale is a Tumblr user reality, so why not make it fashionable? Seven years on Tumblr and I'm still not a tan Italian.

6. Boho

Vanessa Hudgens is the poster child.

7. Alternative

Is anyone really sure of what this word even means? After a few years, I've given up trying to define it. Give it some attitude and you've got it. Listen to some Death Cab For Cutie or The Killers and just vibe from there.

8. Pastels

If you want more pastel-spiration just watch every Melanie Martinez music video ever.

9. Hippie

I have seen real hippies firsthand growing up in Berkeley, California. They do not look like you think they do.

10. Aesthetic

Confused? A brief scan of the tag reveals that this is every Tumblr girl ever in addition to all of the dancers in Ariana Grande's music video for "Focus."

Where do I stand, you ask? I have been on Tumblr for seven years and am on the spectrum between Grunge, Aesthetic, Folk, Hipster, Swag, and a few other style trends not on this list including Prep and Athleisure. Remember, this is not a list descriptive of all of Tumblr as a whole, but of the top reblogged trends.
