Carey Mulligan Slays In Graphic Embellished Gown

Her latest stylish appearances have established her as a force to be reckoned with on the red carpet, but Carey Mulligan's graphic Gucci gown at the British Independent Film Awards Monday night proves that her ensembles are only getting better and better. After a slew of absolutely stunning looks, this Gucci lurex gown tops the list in all it's embellished glory. If Mulligan keeps this going, there's no doubt she'll be a red carpet aficionado just in time for next year's awards season.

The British actress has always had unique and distinct taste when compared to her red carpet peers. Instead of opting for huge tulle gowns or top-to-toe sequins, Mulligan wears drop waist dresses and skirt/shirt separates with frequency. There's no doubt that her quirky, feminine style translates perfectly to the red carpet, because, well, frankly she always looks gorgeous. The appearances she's made to promote her latest film Sufragette have certainly proved that.

Wearing a gown fresh off the Gucci Spring 2016 runway, Mulligan looked beyond beautiful at the BFAs. While the dress looked a little odd on the runway outfitted with oversized glasses and an embellished hat, Mulligan toned it down with soft hair and makeup to really let the dramatically cool ensemble speak for itself.

The geometric design is an unexpected print for an awards dress, but I love the juxtaposition against the floral embellishments around the neck and waist of the gown. As for that rather large parrot? I'm not asking questions.

No accessories were required, since the dress has a busy print. Mulligan's soft wavy hair and neutral, blushing makeup kept the focus on the dress without being too distracting.

I can honestly say it's one of my favorite Mulligan looks to date. But don't hold me to that, because with the way that she has been killing it, that will probably be changing by tomorrow.

1. Blouse & Skirt

Here, Mulligan rocks not one, but two graphic prints. While this ensemble is certainly intimidating, she pulls it off effortlessly.

2. Strapless Dress

The sequined detailing on this dress certainly makes a statement. Sine Mulligan kept the rest of her look simple, sans lots of makeup and accessories, it looks amazing.

3. Suit

The menswear movement is popular among women for good reason. Mulligan's version, with a graphic white detail on the left collar, proves that very well!

4. Halter Dress

The reflective, metallic detailing on this halter dress is absolutely mesmerizing. If there's anyone who could an embellished dress like this, it's Mulligan. Surprise, surprise: she absolutely killed it!

5. Gown

The small dark print on the fabric of this gown is certainly not as eye-catching as on her latest Gucci look. That being said, Mulligan still works it.

6. Midi Dress

Cosmic prints have been very cool for awhile and Mulligan pulled off the look with a totally chic midi dress.

7. Floor Length Gown

Even when it comes to busy floor length gowns, Mulligan looks effortless. She's just that good!
