Saint West & The Middle Name Mystery

Essentially anything Kim Kardashian and Kanye West do together will cause Internet hysteria and, well, the birth of their son was no different. Two days after the chosen one's birth, momma Kim Kardashian revealed her newborn son's name via her official website, and it is very fitting and very them. Kardashian introduced Saint West (yes, Saint) in a very minimal announcement, only describing his birth date of Dec. 5 and weight of 8 pounds, 1 ounce. The Internet had been speculating about the baby's name since her pregnancy announcement, and now that it's been chosen, I wonder if Saint West has a middle name?

The only thing I could think when I heard the name was that it made sense in some way. It is bold and it is provocative, both qualities that Saint's parents represent in popular culture. Honestly, who else could get away with naming their son Saint besides Yeezus himself? (And Pete Wentz, apparently.)

On an old episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians, we learned that Kardashian and West were contemplating simply naming their daughter North, without a middle or last name. While they did end up giving their daughter a last name, North West does not have a middle name, so would they give Saint a middle name?

Although Kardashian did not share a middle name for Saint when she announced the name on her website, the rumors that Kardashian and West would use Robert as a middle name have been persistent. If you're not a Kardashian super-fan or haven't been too in touch with celebrity culture, Robert Kardashian is the late father of Kourtney, Kim, Rob and Khloé Kardashian, who passed away in 2003 to esophageal cancer.

An insider told Us Weekly, “I know they were doing Robert for the middle name in honor of her father." People also reported that before the official name was announced, Kardashian "was reportedly telling people at the hospital that he'll have the middle name "Robert" after her late father." Considering two top entertainment outlets reported this, I think that IF Saint has a middle name, it will be Robert.

Saint Robert West actually has a really good ring to it, and I think it would be a beautiful choice and tribute for the entire Kardashian family. Kardashian hasn't shied away from speaking about her father and how much she misses him, and naming her first son about Robert would be an enormous way to honor his spirit and memory for all of them.

That said, the 35-year-old reality star dedicated an entire post on her website to just sharing her new son's name, birthdate, and weight, which would've been the perfect time to include his middle name as well. We'll have to see if news of a middle name does come out, but as of now, it seems like Saint West is just Saint West.
