Life is somewhat imitating art. If you're an Empire fan, then you know during the Season 2 fall finale, Jamal Lyon earned several American Sound Awards. Well, guess what? Empire is nominated for a 2016 Grammy! How exciting is that? It might not be for the same amount as Jussie Smollett's character on the show, but it's still nice to see the hit FOX drama being recognized for its music, which is a huge part of the series and why so many tune in.
Which category did Empire earn a nom? Empire: Season 1 is nominated in the Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media. It's up against Fifty Shades of Grey, Glen Campbell: I'll Be Me, Pitch Perfect 2, and Selma. Wow. Talk about a category with some competition, but based on its first season of music, well, Empire has a pretty good chance at taking home the Grammy. With artists like Smollett and Bryshere Gray, and Timbaland as the executive producer of music for the series, here's hoping it gets even more love.
From "What Is Love" to "Good Enough" to "You're So Beautiful" to "Conqueror" to "Drip Drop," Season 1 of Empire was filled with some top-notch music. How could it not take home the Grammy? I mean, take a listen.
Also, if it doesn't snag the win, well Lucious Lyon just might do something drastic to make sure his family and show get the recognition they truly deserve. Oh wait, now that Lucious no longer in charge of Empire Records, he doesn't have a say.
Anyway, here's how the cast of Empire is probably celebrating.
