9 Sophisticated Socks To Show Off This Winter

I think we can all agree that socks are the best items of clothing. They keep you warm and fuzzy during the cold winter months, and let's face it, so many of them are just gosh darn cute. Showing them off has been quite a big trend lately, especially sophisticated socks that can totally elevate an outfit. It's like the incognito accessory that can take your look from just meh to a total showstopper.

I, like the rest of the fashion world, have been obsessed with shorter hems (we can thank Thom Browne for this!), and showing off your ankles has pretty much become somewhat mandatory. Especially with the rise of the raw hem and the comeback of culottes, it seems that trousers are only becoming shorter and shorter. I'm totally on board with that...for spring and summer that is. But what happens when it gets too chilly, and our ankles are left exposed?

That's where socks come in. I'm guilty of buying an eight-pack of white tube socks and wearing them under riding boots. But since cropped pants and ankle boots are all the rage lately, I've had to take a step back and actually invest in some sophisticated socks that perhaps don't have Hello Kitty plastered all over them, or doughnuts printed on every square inch. Don't get me wrong — I love these socks too, and often wear them to more casual settings — but if you're looking to chic-up your look, the right sock can do just that.
