Nicholas Thalasinos Identified As Shooting Victim
On Thursday afternoon, several victims of the San Bernardino shooting, including Nicholas Thalasinos, were identified by their family members. According to BuzzFeed News, Thalasinos, Michael Wetzel, and Damian Meins were all killed in the shooting at the Inland Regional Center that left 14 people dead and more than 20 injured. Friends and family took to his Facebook to offer messages of support, describing Thalasinos as "a wonderful human being" and "a blessing." He was identified to the public by his wife, Jennifer.
Thalasinos was a coworker of one of the suspects, Syed Rizwan Farook. In an interview with The New York Times, Jennifer said that the two were friendly.
The local Press Enterprise described Thalasinos as a man with a deep "religious devotion," and the comments posted to his Facebook page recall him as a religious man, specifically a Messianic Jew, along with his wife, according to Jennifer's Times interview. His Facebook posts suggest that he was interested in Israel and in national politics.
Thalasinos had worked at the San Bernardino Department of Health for more than a decade, his wife Jennifer told ABC 7. She added to the network that Thalasinos had originally lived in New Jersey, but had moved out to San Bernardino to be with Jennifer after the two met online.
A GoFundMe page has been set up, and claims that all donations to the page will go to Jennifer.
