Fans of T'Challa rejoice, because your favorite character is about to enter the Captain America franchise in a big way. No, I'm not just talking about the fact that he's going to be in a Captain America movie. I'm talking about the fact that Entertainment Weekly's new covered prominently features Black Panther alongside Captain America and Iron Man to promote the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. In fact, he's so noticeably featured in this photo that he probably couldn't be getting more of the spotlight in this picture unless he was actively palming Captain America's face and elbowing Iron Man out of the way to push his way to the front. Now, there's a magazine I would buy.
But this one is great too, as it portrays Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. as their respective Avengers, with Black Panther lurking quietly behind them, mask up and costume glistening. It's an incredible shot, and it couldn't get me more pumped for the movie. In case you aren't familiar with the lore — clears throat — Black Panther is the first black superhero ever to grace the pages of mainstream comic books, created all the way back in 1966, and we've been pretty much waiting since then to see him helm his own movie. Sadly, we'll be waiting a few more years for that, as his spin-off isn't scheduled until 2018. But, in the meantime, what a rush to finally see the king of the Wakanda in the flesh, looming up behind Iron Man, with whom he will eventually join forces.
I'm not kidding, this costume really does give me chills; I don't even need to see Chadwick Boseman's face to get an idea of the raw power he's going to bring to this character.
Ugh. YES. YES YES YES. May 6, 2016 can't come soon enough, with these three at the helm.
