How To Make Pecan Pie In The Microwave

by Kathryn Kattalia

Thanksgiving is upon us, and your microwave is starting to feel, well, a little neglected. All your love, labor, and attention has been directed toward your oven and stove these last few days, but your microwave wants to pitch in, too — so let it, at least when it comes to dessert. Learn how to make pecan pie in the microwave, and give your other shiny kitchen appliances a much-needed rest. This jazzy little technique will save you time in the kitchen too this year, so really, everyone wins. Don’t underestimate the power of your microwave, people. It’s here to help.

Pecan pie is one of my favorite Thanksgiving desserts to make, mostly because it’s one of the easiest Thanksgiving desserts to make. Throw a few simple ingredients together in a bowl, fill up a pie crust, and watch those pecans settle together in a beautiful tessellation designed to tickle your taste buds. Better yet, take the lazy girl route using — you guessed it! — your microwave. Making your pie in a microwavable mug eliminates your need for pie crust altogether. Simply line the bottom of the mug with graham cracker crumbs, pour in your pie filling, and nuke the thing in the microwave for two whole minutes. The result? A personal-size pecan pie that tastes just as amazing as the real thing, only it took you zero work, and you don’t have to share. Those are three things I’m thankful for, any day.
