Alessandra Ambrosio Goes Naked For 'Maxim' Cover

by Amy Sciarretto

I am used to seeing Brazilian supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio in various states of undress, given her long career as a Victoria's Secret Angel. The model usually rocks a bikini and undies like it's her job because... oh wait, it is! Well, Alessandra Ambrosio is naked on the cover of Maxim . Like totally and completely in the buff. No, she is not wearing an itsy bitsy, teeny weenie bikini or silky intimates made by her main employer for the December/January cover.

But you don't really see anything.

Wait, what? How is a model naked on a magazine cover, yet still, well, covered up?

Thanks to a strategically placed newspaper and the way her legs are gathered under her, Ambrosio remains covered up and isn't exposing too much. She reveals a little underboob and that's, like, it.

The model is sunning herself in the buff in the cover image, with her hair piled atop her head in a bun. She is wearing a thick, chain-like choker and a pair of dark shades, which she is lifting slightly to reveal a "come hither" stare.

It doesn't get any more striking than this. Ambrosio, who looked supremely stunning in a white cutout dress earlier this fall, is so hot she could melt polar ice caps.

Ambrosio looks every inch a lady of leisure, soaking up the sun while getting caught up on current events. I like that she is rocking a newspaper, as opposed to absorbing her news via a digital device. But that was probably for sizes reasons! Even the iPhone 6 Plus wouldn't be big enough to provide the, uh, coverage that the newspaper does!

But I also love how she is peering out from under the shades, like we've interrupted her sunbathing sesh!

Maxim had been going in a different direction with its covers, opting to for closeups of gorgeous women, like models Candice Swanepoel and Lily Aldridge, rather than the usual bikini shots of its past. There were sexy, skin-showing shots in the internal spreads, but the covers were face- focused.

It looks like the publication, which saw editor Kate Lanphear exit after about a year on the job, is returning to the visuals of its past when it comes to covers.

Ambrosio always works it, though. It doesn't matter if it's a Maxim cover of it it's a Vicky's runway.

Remember her Love cover, which rendered her unrecognizable with pale skin and bold red lips?

Or her Winter 2011 Muse cover, on which she rocked a severe bob-with-bangs and super 'scaped brows?

Or her other Winter 2011 Muse cover, on which she rocked a white hot bob, bangs, red lips, and really bronzy skin? What a stunning shapeshifter.
