Anna Paquin Doesn't Care If You Dislike Her Style
Trying out new styles is an invitation to go beyond your borders and step outside of your box creatively, not an excuse for people to mean about it. If there's anyone to inspire you to take chances with your fashion, it's Anna Paquin and the floral dress she wore to the Los Angeles premiere of her latest film, The Good Dinosaur. Despite the fact that she received some negative feedback online for the look, Paquin rocked it with total confidence and looked amazing. The actress also spoke out on Twitter and hushed the haters.
Paquin is amazing at portraying characters on screen. She's won multiple awards for her roles as Sookie Stackhouse in True Blood and as Flora McGrath in The Piano (which she won an Oscar for at only 11-years-old). But that's not to say her personality off screen isn't also pretty awesome, because it totally is. She's not afraid to wear statement pieces or even dye her hair bright purple, so you can imagine how unique and cool her personal style must be. And she's totally unapologetic about it, even when people have less than nice things to say. Her latest red carpet ensemble is a perfect example of that.
Paquin's bright, whimsical floral dress was a great choice for the premiere. The Good Dinosaur is a children's film that follows a dinosaur who befriends a boy and reunites with his dino family after getting lost in a storm. Clearly, this film is going to be absolutely adorable, so Paquin's cute dress was fitting. From the sheer detailing to the embroidered floral pattern, to the hi-low hem of the skirt, this frock looked stunning on the actress.
But apparently the actress must have heard otherwise, because she tweeted the following:
Paquin looked absolutely confident and beautiful in her dress, and I presume that's how she felt in it. As she should, because she looks stunning in the photos from the event. Anyone who doesn't think so should keep their mouth shut!
Paquin's feminine yet edgy style came across perfectly in this bright floral getup, which was whimsical, yet pretty and definitely makes a statement. And while some people didn't see that, it doesn't phase Paquin.
This isn't the first time Paquin was unapologetic about her style choices. You better believe that this woman wears interesting stuff and doesn't care what people say no matter what! Let's look at seven other times Paquin proved taking fashion risks is nobody's business but hers.
1. Architectural Dress
The subtle floral pattern on the bodice of this gorgeous gown adds the perfect statement to an otherwise architectural dress.
2. Tie-Dyed
The print on this dress is pretty groovy and I could probably get lost in it. It looks like a mirrored, tie-dyed floral pattern. Well, whatever it is, it's beautiful on Paquin.
3. LBD
This little black dress is classically chic, but Paquin puts a spin on it with a chunky statement necklace. So cute!
4. Textured Skirt
My favorite part about this dress is the voluminous skirt that almost looks like it has flower petals all around it. Paquin looks like she's glowing in red.
5. Body Con Dress
Just because Paquin occasionally wears body con dresses doesn't mean she always has to. Take note, trolls! The leather ruffle on this one adds a ton of interest to a basic silhouette.
6. Sheer Detailed Dress
The midi length of this dress, plus the sheer detailing, gives it just enough oomph to be a statement against Paquin's skin.
7. Patterned Dress
The busy pattern on this dress, plus the long sleeves, certainly make it tough to pull off. Paquin does it and she does it well.
Take that, haters!
