8 Celebrity Cameos In The 'Zoolander 2' Trailer

by Alexis Rhiannon

Better get your Blue Steel face ready, because the new trailer for Zoolander 2 is out, and there are so many celebrity cameos in it that you don't want to get caught gaping. Everybody be cool, OK? It happens all the time that we get to see this many famous faces packed into one speedy little clip. No, but, seriously, I haven't been sure what to think of the sequel, coming as it is a full decade and a half behind the original, but I'm starting to come around. In addition to Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, of course, there are just so many talented people crammed in here that it can't be all bad, no matter how nervous I am (or was?) about sequels in general.

Unlike other sequels I've seen, Zoolander 2 seems, at least from this trailer, to be using cameos by people who actually fit the roles, rather than just throwing in as many big names as they can get, without regard for plot. But, hey, the film isn't out until Feb. 12, 2016, so there's plenty of time between then and now for them to squeeze in even more celebrity cameos and prove me wrong. Until then, here are the eight very exciting reveals from this second trailer.

1. Joe Jonas

He would be in the first row of a fashion show. Good call.

2. Penelope Cruz

An excellent choice for the super-sultry Interpol agent whose help Hansel and Derek need to solve these mysterious murders that keep cropping up. It's made more excellent by Owen Wilson's line about her: "She's hot — I trust her."

3. Kyle Mooney

YES. Please, everyone, put the Saturday Night Live star in all your movies starting now, especially as the new, apathetic model on the scene. #millennials

4. Benedict Cumberbatch

There's maybe never been smarter casting than Benedict Cumberbatch as an androgynous model named "All," who is either beautiful or extremely odd-looking. Or both?

5. Justin Bieber

I was originally weirded out when Justin Bieber was cast, but, even from the trailer, I can tell he's playing so self-awarely that he's going to be able to pull it off.

6. Demi Lovato, Usher, Miley Cyrus

We don't get to see them in action, but here are the members of the glitterati who've been taken out so far, all of whom struck the Blue Steel pose in their final moments. And shout-out to the corner of Lenny Kravitz's head in there! We see you!

7. Kristen Wiig

Yup, that's her, and I couldn't be more excited about it.

8. Will Ferrell

And, finally, Will Ferrell, of course. I thought this was a brand-new character, until he ripped this tattooed skin suit off and went back to his clown-haired self.

See what I mean? Everyone so far is well-cast and very capable of performing the role they've been given. It gets me excited, and I think it will do the same for you if you just check out the trailer below.
