Why Claire Embraces Her Natural Hair

by Sienna Fantozzi

There's nothing quite like a harrowing hair experience to force you into accepting yourself as you are. According to People, Claire Danes covered Allure and revealed the worst beauty mishap she's ever had, and why she doesn't agree with placing our focus on physical appearances.

The Homeland star is on the cover of the magazines December issue, and if you needed a reason to love her anymore, this interview is it. Danes opened up about our culture of perfection and everyones obsession with being "flawless," admitting that she doesn't see the point in it, and though she's very vain, this vanity is only in respect to her career and making sure she gives an honest performance in each role. "I know some of the most beautiful women on the planet — unequivocally, objectively friggin’ gorgeous — and they are rife with insecurity and self doubt, and you just think, ‘Well how can that be?'” she told Allure.

And part of not focusing on her appearance has to do with embracing her natural beauty. The 36-year-old actress reveals the reason why she stopped fighting her natural hair. "My hair is desperately straight. I’ve always wanted curly hair. I got a perm when I was eight. Burned all my hair off, basically," Danes said. If that wouldn't convince you to embrace your tresses as they are, I don't know what would.

Though Danes might prefer curly hair (the grass is always greener...), here's proof she looks amaze with straight hair.

When she wears it in a deep side part, it gives it that extra volume like curly hair has.

So chic.

And she can totally rock that tousled/bed head look.

Not that she wouldn't look great with it curly, but natural (and not burned off...) hair definitely wins.
