Hilary Duff & Her Husband Are Done
If you're looking for a reason to be irrationally sad today, here's one — Hilary Duff and husband Mike Comrie are separating. Why, gods of love, why? The rep for the singer and ex-Disney star, who recently announced that she'll be releasing her fifth album this year in an impromptu fan interview, confirmed to E! News that the couple, have "mutually decided to an amicable separation" and that they plan to continue to raise their son, Luca Cruz Comrie, who turns 2 in March, together.
In the couple's official statement they asserted that, "They remain best friends and will continue to be in each other's lives. They are dedicated to loving and parenting their amazing son, and ask for privacy at this time." I guess as long as they stay friends it's okay for their marriage to be so yesterday? Ugh.
Duff and former-NHL player Comrie began dating 2007, were married in the summer of 2010, and it seemed like it was all a Cinderella story. Then in 2012, they welcomed their son and Duff gushed about being a new mom and opened up about how her and her recently-retired NHL husband were "keeping the spark alive" with a newborn at home by scheduling weekly date nights. So cute.
The actress was even talking about having more kids with then-husband Comrie to E! News in Nov. 2013, saying that she'd be happy with a boy but would love to try for a girl. Does that sound like a marriage headed for splitsville to you? Because it really doesn't sound to us.
As if we weren't sad enough on our own, the former Disney Channel star tweeted her appreciation for the support she and Comrie have received since the announcement this afternoon (get your tissues):
We're sad, we're really sad — but at least they're staying best friends, right? RIGHT?
