Lily Collins LBD Offers Party Season Inspo

by Amy Sciarretto

Holiday party season will be here before you know it. It's essentially upon us. Whether your social calendar is loaded with professional soirees or family fetes, you better start planning your party dresses. Lily Collins' sparkly Zuhair Murad LBD, which the actress wore to the 2016 Breakthrough Prize Ceremony, should provide plenty of inspiration for picking out a cute but fancy dress. It's also indicative of a burgeoning dress trend.

Collins' pretty party dress had a lot of darling elements to it. At its most basic level, it was a sheer and sparkly LBD with a sprinkling of stars, a deep V, and a built-in choker, sort of like Selena Gomez's white mini dress, which had its own collar.

These two flirty but chic dresses make me think that dresses with choker collars are the next big fashion trend. This is the second time a choker dress has appeared on my radar in a week. So I am watching this trend grow.

As for Collins' frock? Upon a deeper inspection, I came to admire the opposing elements. From the waist up, it was super sexy, thanks to the plunging front and its semi-see-through material. The choker collar added another layer of sexiness.

From the waist down, it was girlish and flirty, thanks to the full but short skirt. I love how the sparkle mimicked fairy dust. Overall, this delicate Zuhair Murad frock was insanely feminine.

Collins dazzled in this dress. The shape of the V and the addition of the collar made it look like a keyhole bodice.

The construction was unique, since the back wasn't wide open and completely skin-showing. It's as though the fabric in the back could have been transferred to the open front. It was all connected.

Is arm cleavage a thing? This vantage point also showed off Collins' legs.

The skirt was just so fun.

Collins' messy bob and bold brows were also aces.

It was another fashion win for L. Collins.

By now, you should have sufficient inspo for your holiday party frocks. The dresses below each have similar elements to Collins' dress... but none are fast fashion carbon copies.

This sequined skater dress has a playful spirit and texture that is similar to Collins' Murad LBD. ($176, lulus.com)

Thanks to its long sleeves, this black embellished and sequined mini is perfect for all of your cold weather season parties. You could add opaque tights to stay further warm. ($98, express.com)

Love the dress-with-a-choker-collar trend? Well, this sleeveless and geometric print mini by Whitney Eve has one, along with a V neckline. The pattern adds depth and elevates the dress to party-appropriate. ($95, nordstrom.com)

Tobi's body con, Call on Me mini has its own long choker, which dips into the V of the bodice. It's really daring and low cut; therefore, it probably isn't appropriate for an office fete. But if you are going out with the girls or having a holiday date night with your beloved, you can rock this. ($40, tobi.com)

Who's ready for a holiday party? You will be with any of these frocks.
