Bella Hadid Brings Back An '80s Trend

by Amy Sciarretto

Just because someone is born in the mid-'90s doesn't mean they can't resurrect a decidedly '80s trend in a fabulous way. Model Bella Hadid rocked an '80s-style satin jacket in a few supremely sexy Instagram selfies and she did so with such a modern, fresh twist. Gigi Hadid's baby sister, who was born in 1996, wore her orange satin, baseball-style bomber without a bra or a top underneath.

Instead, Hadid merely fastened the top button, showed off a little side cleavage in the front, and gave off a mysterious pout. She paired the bold, bright Adidas jacket with denim bottoms. It was such a killer street style look for the brunette model.

Taylor Swift actually wore a similarly shaped bomber jacket on the cover of NME earlier this year, proving that this cut is always in style. Hadid's version was even more '80s-inspired because of the material. Satin bombers are so fun to thrift; you can browse thrift shops and vintage stores and find several quality, authentic, and unusual options that you can add to your wardrobe and update depending on how you style them and what you pair them with.

You know, you could probably even dig through your mom's or your aunt's closets and find one of these babies buried at the back.

How scorching was Hadid while wearing her orange satin bomber? You may or may not want to go bra-less when wearing one. But she certainly makes a case for it.

Her jacket was vintage-inspired, but not too throwback-y, thanks to the styling.

Want to wear this trend? You can do it. You might have to spend a few hours rifling through the racks of your favorite thrift outlet, which sounds like a dream to me. Or you can opt for a brand new piece.

This charcoal satin bomber is a super modern version that you could wear with anything, really. ($88, forever21.com)

There are tons of satin baseball jackets on Etsy, like this authentic Cubs coat. So do a bunch of point and click browsing, too! ($86, etsy.com)

This brown bomber might be a neutral shade, but it can be unbelievably sexy! I'd suggest adding a bandeau and denim, be it jeans, leggings, or a mini skirt, for a take on the Hadid presentation. ($38, forever21.com)

You can also opt for a more athleisure version, like this cute and versatile Adidas NEO jacket. ($80, adidas.com)

If you absolutely love the citrus shade of Hadid's bomber, this Stellasport aka Stella McCartney for Adidas puffer jacket has the same color and shiny texture. It's a bit more voluminous and cropped, but it's easy to dress up or down. Plus, it's Stella. Need I say more? ($150, adidas.com)

These are some brand new options that allow you to replicate Hadid's look, but I would suggest spending an hour or three thrifting a similar piece. You will likely unearth a hidden, quirky, and one-of-a-kind jacket gem, among other things. The best thing about thrifting is finding pieces no one else will have.

Happy shopping!
