The 'Today' Show 'Peanuts' Costumes Are Terrifying

by Allyson Koerner

Be afraid. Be very afraid. In the spirit of Halloween, most talk show hosts dress up for the holiday by donning some type of crazy costume. Well, the hosts of NBC's Today show did just that. During Friday's live show, the Today hosts dressed up as Peanuts characters and it's the most frightening thing I've ever seen. Never will I ever be able to look at Charlie Brown, Lucy, Snoopy, Linus and every other iconic cartoon character the same way again.

Al Roker, Savannah Guthrie, Matt Lauer, and the other hosts went all out. I mean, they committed, all right. But, they went a bit too far. You know, when it looks like someone squeezed cake decorating gel on top of your head (Roker, Carson Daly, and Meredith Vieira), I'm not so sure that makes for a fantastic costume. Hasn't anyone ever heard of a wig? Let's also discuss how Kathie Lee Gifford's Woodstock costume is going to give me nightmares for at least a good week. I think meteorologist Dylan Dreyer got it right by going as Charlie Brown's kite.

My words don't really do the costumes justice, so here is photographic evidence of how Today turned Peanuts into a scary bedtime story.

Al Roker As Charlie Brown

Good grief.

Matt Lauer As Lucy

I think Lucy could give him some good psychiatric advice.

Savannah Guthrie & Carson Daly As Sally & Linus

Seriously, is that Linus or Gollum?

Meredith Vieira As Pig-Pen

Pig-Pen's odor isn't the only thing wrong with this costume.

Hoda Kotb & Kathie Lee Gifford As Snoopy & Woodstock

Yes, please fly away.

Willie Geist As Schroeder

OK. This one isn't bad.

The HUGE Shoes

Never have I ever hated feet more.

Regis Philbin As The Red Baron

Thank goodness! Regis is here to save the day!

Dylan Dreyer As The Kite

Now this is how you do a Peanuts costume.

Anyone else hyperventilating? Don't worry, because the doctor is in and can help ease your pain.
