Does SJP Think She & Carrie Bradshaw Are Alike?

In an interview with Buzzfeed, published Tuesday in honor of the tenth anniversary of her first perfume Lovely, they asked Sarah Jessica Parker if she and Carrie Bradshaw, her Sex In The City character, have anything in common. Parker detailed some of the ways in which she and Carrie are similar — they both love the city and are curious people-watchers — but mostly Parker noted their differences. "I think there’s not a lot about Carrie that is actually similar to my life. Our choices have been so radically different. There are certain kinds of pillars that fundamentally are different. I like clothing, but I don’t have anywhere near a fevered relationship that she does."

Everyone makes the assumption that SJP is exactly like Carrie IRL because she embodied that character so fully, and made Sex and the City her own. Although it's tricky, it's probably best to remember that Carrie Bradshaw's not a real person (don't cry). However, she's totally awesome all the same. Thank goodness that Sarah Jessica Parker keeps evolving, and has some exciting upcoming roles in the pipeline, including a new HBO show called Divorce .

Both SJP and Carrie Bradshaw continue to surprise style-wise. They're unafraid to try new things, and often mix up opposing styles. Whatever they decide to wear — a giant feather on their head or pom poms on their shoes — it always works. Parker's confidence, and Carrie Bradshaw's enduring appeal, continue to be totally inspiring.

2. They Maintain Relationship Honesty

Being in the public eye, Parker is used to intrusive questions about her private life, but she always handles these situations with total grace. The moments she's been open and let fans into what her life is like behind the scenes, have been wonderful, yet she still strikes the important balance between work and personal so well. Bradshaw was famously in a relationship with New York CIty. Remember Season 5 Episode 1 in which she goes on a perfect date with the city, claiming she is love with New York? Parker, too, has lived in the city, or in nearby Brooklyn, for a long time. Best place on earth!

Although criticism is often difficult to take, Sarah Jessica Parker has proved the majority of her critics wrong, particularly in the way she's become an astute business woman with successful perfume and shoe lines. Carrie Bradshaw, too, had an often tumultuous road to becoming a bestselling author, but she stayed fierce in the face of adversity.

5. They Love Food

In her interview with Buzzfeed, Parker notes that, unlike the famous character she played, she would never choose Vogue over groceries, as she says, "No. No, I would never give up food. Ever." Carrie and her friends often met for brunch, though, so I like to think they secretly have this one in common.

6. They're Fierce

Neither Carrie Bradshaw or Sarah Jessica Parker could ever be called a pushover. The fact that they're so fierce is integral to their lasting appeal.

7. They're Completely Iconic

As Jennifer Lawrence's photobomb proves, Sarah Jessica Parker gets photographed a lot. Instantly recognizable, and respected in the fashion world, SJP is a total legend.
