Did Emma Stone & Andrew Garfield Call It Quits?

Sad news for one of the sweetest young couples in Hollywood. Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield reportedly split after three years together. After separating earlier in 2015, Stone and Garfield reportedly got back together in June, Us Weekly reports. The breakup reportedly happened a few months ago. A source tells Us, “They still have a lot of love for one another and they are on good terms with each another and remain close. It just wasn't working." Bustle reached out for comment, but hasn't heard back.

Back in 2012, Garfield spoke with MTV News about how he sparked with Stone during their Amazing Spider-Man audition together. "“We got on really well as people, in between [takes],” Garfield said. “That was the fun stuff: In between, we’d just mess around, and I felt, ’Ah, this is different.’ I wasn’t really aware what was happening in the screen test. She keeps you on your toes, and that wakes you up. That was the beginning ... Obviously I was so happy that she got the role and decided to do it. Those are the days I’d look forward to, you know? For Peter as well, because Peter goes through some horrible stuff in the movie. There’s some joy to be had when experiencing his first love.”

In a 2015 interview with the Wall Street Journal, Stone explained how she keeps her personal life just that — to herself. "See, I never talk about this stuff for this exact reason — because it’s all so speculative and baseless," Stone said. "Once you start responding — once you’re like, 'No, that’s not true' — then they’re like, 'Well, if we push enough, we’ll get a comment, so let’s see what else we can make up.' I understand the interest in it completely, because I’ve had it, too. But it’s so special to me that it never feels good to talk about, so I just continually don’t talk about it."

Although breaking up in the public eye must be incredibly difficult, it sounds like both Stone and Garfield are handling the situation with utmost maturity. However, it's still sad to see one of our favorite couples call it quits.
