Here's Why Kate Young Deserves Stylist Of The Year

While we often give celebrities loads of credit for their cool outfits, we don't always stop to think about the people who put those looks together behind-the-scenes — the stylists. Sure, A-listers are the ones who rock the latest trends, but without their stylists, many of them wouldn't be half as fashionable. Kate Young won InStyle's Stylist of the Year Award, and from her impressive resumé of amazing ensembles, it's clear to see why.

Ultimately, if there were no stylists, celebrities would be forced to rely on their own fashion expertise to get them through events. Granted, this works well for many self-styled celebrities, but others might have a bit of trouble — just look at how well it worked out for Britney Spears in 2007. Thanks to Young and her fabulous sartorial picks, stars like Selena Gomez, Sienna Miller, and Dakota Johnson have strutted down the streets and the red carpets in style. According to Vogue, the stylist is behind the fashion revival of Gomez, who has been killing it lately.

“We’ve had a clear vision of what we wanted to do together from the beginning,” Young told Vogue. “There’s an overall mood that we’re going for which is young, modern, clean, and sexy without ever being fussy.”

From the interview, it's clear to see that Young's job goes way past just picking lovely clothing. Not only do her clients frequently land on best dressed lists, but they gather a fashion-related following in addition to their other talents.

Not only does she have stand-out personal style, but Young manages to dress her clients perfectly to suit their personalities. Although the stylist seems to have a special liking for all-black outfits, she's just as good at assembling colorful street style and classic red carpet ensembles.
