When you wear a cape with a dress, or a dress with a cape, you essentially transform into a fashion superhero. Pregnant Kim Kardashian wore a white Valentino dress with a cape to the InStyle Awards and she was positively radiant. The clingy dress hugged her curves and was majorly ladylike and pretty. It also looked a lot like the snow-colored dress that Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the Oscars a few years back.
Lately, the reality star has been sticking with slicked back, center-parted 'dos when it comes to her hair. That way, she can be chic and not waste too much time fussing with her locks as she carries her precious cargo.
The body conscious Valentino dress is easily the best red carpet look of her second pregnancy. Kim was, in a word, breathtaking, since the dress hugged all of her gorgeous curves.
The drew also looked a tad familiar. It reminded me of the white and caped Tom Ford dress Gwyneth Paltrow wore to the Oscars back in 2012. Granted, Gwynnie's gown was a bit more architectural and squared off at the shoulders, whereas Kim's had a softer shape. But the dresses were kindred spirits.
First, let's have a look at Kardashian in white, caped Valentino.
The cape added an air of regalness to the dress. Her black lacquered nails were a sexy contrast to the white hue.
The side view shows Kim's fastened-at-the-neck ponytail and her bump, of course.
This snow white gown showed just a bit of her arms. It looked like it was made expressly for Kim and her kurves.
Don't you love how Kim acknowledges and cradles her bump? That element of her body language suggests she loves being a mom.
She accessorized with a blingy, gold choker! The '90s are always in and Kim totally gets that.
The cape was like an additional, flowing frame for the dress.
Just beautiful, right?
KKW was the picture of elegance.
Here's Gwyneth Paltrow in her white Tom Ford gown with a cape.
She and Kim were twinning, despite being several years removed from wearing these dresses and the fact that Kim is expecting.
Both Gwynnie and Kimmie demonstrate the right way to wear a cape with a white gown. I couldn't even pick which dress I prefer; it's too close to call and they both knocked it out of the park.
Capes aren't just for superheros! They are for fashionistas and fashion superheroines.
BTW, if you want to wear a cape in winter, as part of your layers or outerwear, you have plenty of cape options.
