Kate Middleton Does Lace Right
If there's one thing Disney movies taught us, it's that princesses have the best wardrobes. Kate Middleton wore a lace Dolce & Gabbana dress to meet the Chinese president and his wife, proving that even classics can be flirty and adorable. Middleton might have left her tiara at home this time, but there was no denying who the real style royalty was!
The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out looking as sultry as ever, and even a bit playful, in the designer dress, which left me wondering how the color eggplant could look so fabulous. The $3,495 Dolce & Gabbana dress (that's right, it could pay a sizable portion of your tuition) was a nice surprise considering that she frequently plays it pretty safe with style. Although it did hit below her knees, the sheer lace number was definitely a bit demurely sexy.
She paired the look with matching heels and a velvet clutch in a completely shocking shade of red. The mostly monochrome outfit looked absolutely fabulous, and I can only hope this is the first of many edgier looks for the Duchess. Prince William also opted for an eggplant color. He wore a tie in the matching hue, but opted for checkerboard print instead of lace. Just look at how flawless they are together!
But let's get back to the important stuff. I've never seen a shift dress look so, well, royal.
Her tousled waves add a sweet vibe. Can you just imagine if she were to wear her hair straight with a smokey eye? How edgy!
Her velvet Mullberry clutch is definitely worth a second look. Considering it probably costs more than every purse I own combined, I'd say that it qualifies as insanely chic.
It doesn't get more elegant than this!
