Kate Beckinsale Debuts A Shiny, Shorter 'Do

For as long as I can remember, Kate Beckinsale has been my ultimate hair crush. Something about her shiny, bouncy brunette locks is so mesmerizing. Seriously, I don't know how she does it. However, her latest move may inspire me to take the plunge and chop my hair off. Kate Beckinsale debuted a new short haircut, and she predictably looks amazing.

According to the Daily Mail, Kate debuted the new look at the The Academy Of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences New Members Reception in London on Wednesday. She was totally rocking a gorgeous cutout LBD, but I couldn't pay attention — all I could see was her hair! Recently, Beckinsale's been rocking a blondish ombre style, but that's gone now that her locks are barely shoulder length. Her curls also looked more natural than her usual styled look, and I personally love the change.

The British actress has rocked a number of fabulous hairstyles over the years, but the one thing that remains consistent is her impressively shiny hair. I seriously don't know how she does it. Although in 2006, she said in a Daily Mail interview she swore by Terax hair products. BRB, ordering them right now. I mean, how perfect does her hair look?

To be fair, her hair did look a little bit shorter in May at the Met Gala. Beckinsale is notoriously private for a celeb, so it's hard to tell when she made the initial chop.

Now that I'm sufficiently envious of the actress' hair, here are seven of her most iconic looks over the years.

1. The Questionable Highlights

Just when I thought Beckinsale could do no wrong, I found this picture from 2002. I'll forgive her for this one transgression because of her amazing track record.

2. The Piece-y Bangs

In 2004, Beckinsale switched up her look with some bold bangs. Luckily, she got rid of those red highlights and improved her look times 10.

3. The Retro Ponytail

In 2007, Beckinsale rocked her first (of many) high ponytails on the red carpet. Her hair was still pretty dark here, and I love the retro-inspired pouf that adds volume.

4. The Tousled Waves

This 2011 look gives Beckinsale a beachy, California vibe. The center part and loose waves are a departure for her, but this look became her signature in the years that followed.

5. The Ombre

In 2012, Beckinsale started rocking the ombre look in a way that's totally natural looking. I mean, her transition from dark to light is seamless. This is one of my favorite of her hairstyles.

6. The Mermaid HHair

In 2013, Beckinsale's hair was the longest it had been in years. Before her recent chop, she was rocking some seriously long mermaid hair that was wavy and effortless.

7. The Shiny Ponytail

Beckinsale rocks a ponytail better than almost any celebrity. Look at all that volume! Seriously, #hairgoals. She is the kind of person who looks amazing with her hair up, so I hope she kept enough length to continue rocking ponytails in the future.
