A Familiar Face Returns To 'The Flash'
During this week's episode of The Flash, "Flash of Two Worlds," we learned a lot about these two worlds: they are now known as Earth-One and Earth-Two. Barry Allen lives on Earth-One as The Flash; Jay Garrick lives on Earth-Two as The Flash. We also learned one other huge thing about this new Earth. On Earth-2, Harrison Wells is still alive and walking. It's OK to freak out for a few seconds.
I'm also going to say I called this, because I totally called this. Did we really think that we had seen the end of Harrison Wells? Of course not. The bigger question, though, is which Harrison Wells is alive. Is he the original Wells, or the second one, taken over by Eobard Thawne? There's also the chance that he could be a brand new third version of Wells, one who never even tried to tamper with a particle accelerator.
For me, at least, it was just a really awesome moment to see him stroll through S.T.A.R. Labs and once again be hailed as a the founder and a known genius. I know it's not really great to love the bad guy, but I really loved Wells. I'm so glad he's back, even though he's in a different dimension on a different timeline where everything looks like Tomorrowland.
I also can't help but wonder what kind of connection he has to the second Flash, Jay. Did you happen to notice that through the entire episode, Barry never once said the name, "Harrison Wells" to Jay? During their training session, where Jay is trying to teach Barry how to throw lightning (because doesn't everyone know how to throw lightning?), Barry quickly touches on his old mentor, but never once mentions his name. I don't think that's a coincidence.
There's a huge possibility that Jay also has ties to Wells in Earth-Two. Jay told Caitlin Snow that he was big into the sciences, too, and the biggest facility is S.T.A.R. Labs. They must have crossed paths before. But does Earth-Two Wells have the same vendetta against speedsters? Is Earth-Two Wells a speedster himself?
Whatever's happening, it looks like we've got a brand new season of trying to figure out Harrison Wells onThe Flash.
