Olivia Wilde's Gown Is Not Your Typical Floral
Florals loose their sparkle when the trees are bare and the temperatures are more than just chilly. But Olivia Wilde's graphic floral gown on a recent red carpet proves they still make for gorgeous clothing, no matter the time of year. For the premiere of her latest film, Meadowland, in New York City, Wilde looked unsurprisingly gorgeous in a floral Rosie Assoulin dress.
Wilde is no stranger to the red carpet. And, as you will see a little bit later, she's also no stranger to looking absolutely amazing on the red carpet. That is true whether she's wearing something more casual, or at outfit that makes more of a statement. This latest ensemble is certainly a bit daring, but it's also drop-dead gorgeous.
I can honestly say I have never seen anything like this number. The top of the dress is made up of a stunning flower-shaped piece of fabric featuring cutouts that are so carefully designed that the effect is far more pretty than revealing. Plus, the striking red color looks amazing against Wilde's fair skin, as well as against the pure white skirt of the dress. There's another identical flower at the bottom of the skirt, adding some extra personality to the dress.
Let's take a peek, shall we?
Capitalizing on the statement-making red theme of the dress, she wore matching bright red heels by Brian Atwood as well as red lipstick. While this certainly sounds like it would be too matchy-matchy, the colors look fluid and pretty. Plus, did you see she's got pockets on her dress as well? Let's just be real — pockets make everything better.
The dress fits her so well, it looks like it was made for her. With a top like that, it's got to fit perfectly or you never know what kind of wardrobe malfunctions you may run into. It's obvious that wasn't a problem for Wilde, as she looked so pretty, feminine, and just all-around stunning. Since florals are certainly more typical during the warmer months of the year, the fact that Wilde pulled off this dress in the middle of October is very impressive.
But like I said before, she's certainly no stranger to killing the red carpet game, especially when it comes to statement-making ensembles. So, let's honor Wilde's feminine and chic style by looking back on some of her best outfits.
1. Met Gala 2015
All I can say is, wow. Wilde wears this dress so effortlessly. I'm convinced she's the only person who could really pull it off. Plus, those opera length gloves are bad ass.
2. Tribeca Film Festival 2015
Head-to-toe prints? Challenge accepted!
3. Vanity Fair Academy Awards Party 2014
This gown is seriously a work of art.
4. New York Film Festival 2013
Wilde seems like one of those people who isn't afraid to push the dress code. This ensemble, with wide leg pants and a buttoned-up white blouse, certainly pushes the limits.
5. The Five Year Engagement Premiere 2012
Back when she was rocking blonde hair, prints were still her go-to. I love this animal print maxi dress.
6. Golden Globe Awards 2011
This big, sparkly black dress is easily one of Wilde’s best ensembles. IMO. Plus, those heels are killer!
7. Emmys 2011
This gorgeous gown that she wore to the Emmys in 2011 is another one of my favorites. Maybe Wilde was the one to set the naked-dress trend?
She's got some seriously chic style.
